I found the song at murchunga (http://murchunga.com/search.php?do=list.tracks&col=al.id&val=81&sort=al) but could not find the lyrics.
gwajyo,
Thank you so much.Is there any way you can find out what the song means ,in nepali..Can you at least translate the first few lines for me...I would be really grateful if you are able to do so.
sorry, I'm not a good translator.
Tyo kun chahi galli tyo gun ckahi galli
Makhan ko galli rahechha
Panbati Maiya pani Lina ain Chandiko Paiju rahechha
Ramro (gorgeous) Paiju chhan chhan garne rahechha
Mero man chorera suru suru gain
Pakha na pakha Maya jaal ma phase
Heri Heri matrai najau
Jyalma baseki tyo keti nai chahinchha
Tyo Keti paena bhane bhaatai khanna....
bacuase of dialect/language differences among different Newari communities in different cities, I myself do not understand all of the above and there are probably some mistakes
Sorry!
Magdadela,
Thank you soooo much for taking the time to translate that. I appreciate it a lot. Thanks once again..
Ok, I will translate from where magdadela had left.

hey gwajo et. al,
Thanks for the lyrics of this song. I am a big fan of this song too. Its one of the oldest songs of the valley. The other ones being Rajamati Kumati and Gosaikunda song (forgot exacrtly how it goes but its in the Shilu soundtrack.) Who says you only have to listen to what you understand?
What I don't get is, is the part on yamori in the original? I think that's just used to ask for Yomari during Yomari punhe. I think the band added this in their version of the song. But I could be totally mistaken.
Does anyone have the original version of this and Rajamati?
I think the original is the best. This band popularized the song but killed the rhytm and melody of the original.
if bro
i dunno if this is the original..hope it is..doesnt sound like a remix to me :oD hehe...

good day!:oD..
yeah this is one of my fav. songs too though i don't understand a thing about newari :(
hey anonymous,
I think that's the Bhim Tuladhar version. Not the original. I think the closest to original of Rajamati we can get to is one sung by Prem Dhowj Pradhan.
Growing up in Kathmandu in a newar neighborhood was nice. We actually went around asking for yomari and "mahadev lai jado bhayo daura deu"-- too bad these traditions are dying out. I wonder how many kids in the valley actually know about these traditions.
Yomari anyone?
Haku choyela, yomari, luku mahadev, indrajatra, lakhe....and yela!!!! we have our own traditions.. Jai kathmandu valley!!
i guess the only sajhabasi who knows all this is kalanki bro- ye mula k cha?
if bro..not original re?:oS oh well now i know hehee
anyone has the that Prem Dhowj version??pls!dun make me go after u!;oP hehe
