University of South Alabama
Any one from University of south Alabama.. Mobile? Need some info on grad programs and the living conditions there as per the work and living expenses?
i am not clear what information u want about grad program. on what particular subject....
so far about living expences it is cheaper than any other states and all students live off campus. u can find good housings in cheap rates.
thanx dude.... well I am going for EE , was wondering about the assistantships and shit like like that, anyway I might as well find that on the website I guess.
Well, I go to Univ. of South Alabama (USA) but not to EE department. Assistantships not that easily available but there is one Nepali grad student in EE department who recently received GA. I think there are other 3-4 grad students in EE without GA. I would say, it depends upon program and luck. You never know what is waiting for you. Personally, I had assistantship while doing my masters and now have guaranteed source of funding for another 3-4 years for another degree. As i mentioned earlier, it is highly individual based outcomes that u need not to be worried much. Some students get and few don't. So try it out by writing your interest into the department preferably to the individual professor.
Rest of the things are wonderful, we have medium size city with about half a million population and is relatively cheaper. We are about 100 Nepalese students, most of us are undergrads. If you needed any other specific information you can write to me or to our webmaster at

Hyper thred,
why are u applying only in Uni of south AL,
Apply to LSU( -http://www.lsu.edu), they have lot of funds...Even though you don't get assistanship witin the department, you can look outside the department after you come here...
If u get one...u don have to pa anything + you get stipend which is more than enough..i guess..//think abt it...
Provided that you have a very good GRE score and undergrad GPA..or some good experience in the related field.
