To be honest with you, my friend, one question to you- why we Nepalese always want to hang around with each other. Either on subway, sidewalk, movie theater, college vicinity, library, park, everywhere in NYC, I have always seen a gang of Nepalese girls and guys together. Sometimes the most embarrasing moment for me is to see my fellow countrymen (guys) holding each others hand on the vicinity of the college and library. Now a days, it scared the hell out of me just seeing a group of girls and boys holding hands either on subway or in a sidewalks. I am not saying that it is bad but it always amazes me why they like to hang around together always. And your question now is scaring the hell out of me- you are looking for some big gang of Nepalese student around NYC. It should not matter whether there are Nepalese student population in the college or the chances of enrollment for Nepalese students, what matters the most is the college itself- its student population, costs, assistantship, course and its reputation. Myself a batch of 2005 City College.

My answer to quest: We look for nepalese people like any other new people whether it's white or any other races try to find some links to know people at new places. For us from Nepal, since we don't have any relatives here, it's easier for us to look for other nepalese who can help to guide us to get adjusted as it might be harder for newcomers at the beginning. Everyone does that.

No wonder your name is "Gwajyo"....... I wish associating with your own fellow countrymen is the guarantee to guidance or assistance. I wish it was that easy. When do we Nepalese learn to be independent? Of course everyone depends on each other, but not always. Try to cultivate some dignity of independence. As you have made your mind to study in the foreign land where you have to struggle on daily basis for your survival, so please give me a breakkkkkkkkk.

For your kind information, I don't hang out with any nepalese n' I didn't ask for any help from nepalese here. But I needed help atleast to get to my apartment n' I needed somebody to pick me up from airport n' I got the help from a stranger. Why do you mean by independence? It's not only about independence dude; how can we ignore our fellow countrymen? One more my personal experience for you, I'm independent, and I'm here on my own. But just a thought, it'd be nice to hang out with nepalese if possible. It's a matter of choice; some prefere n' some don't, and you can't tag those hanging out with nepalese as not being independent.

Dude it sounds like a that saying "Chor ko khutta tahn bhanda chorlay khuta lukayeko jasto." For your kind information, I did not refer to you, or did I ???? Please read carefully- it is meant for many of us who prefer to choose the similar faces and places where we will have an easy access with little self expenses. By the way, dude, you did not grasp the meaning of independent.

Nor did you understand the meaning of independence. It's not chor ko khutta kat coz' i'm not hanging out with nepalese. But I don't agree with your point. It's not little expenses. Everybody here asks me if I do know any nepalese here, n' i've to say 'no' everytime. I didn't find it unnatural to try to meet with any other nepalese but I don't agree too to limit oneself within only nepalese circle. But for new nepalese students n' whenever nepalese people get trouble, it's other nepalese who're ought to offer the hands. Just take for the example of some recent accidents from Late Pukar Regmi. Many nepalese who don't even know him donated generously to collect the funds. It's just like relatives at our town back in Nepal.

Poor guy is asking a simple question and you guys are making a drama out of it. I guess Gwajoyo is right though. I mean it is just natural to seek familiar faces in the land of unknown, nothing wrong with that. When I was there kids used to goto LaGuardia College. Basically any other colleges under CUNY system as the tuition is reasonable there and few colleges (excluding LaGuardia) are really good. I know very few in Columbia, NYU, Hofstra and Manhattan as well. SUNY colleges also have few Nepalese.

I'm not to argue, but sometimes I can't just stand when some1's trying to give some wrong reasons. My question to quest: If you don't want to hang out with other nepalese, what brought you at sajha's forum?

Ok Ok Gwajyo, you win I loose. Are you happy now? Thanks stiffler for being a judge between the so called silly fight between Q and G. Anyway, I would suggest, check out for City College for its affordable tuition and location, and not to forget some good population of similar faces, and my alma mater.

Quest jee, we didn't talk to win or lose. I don't agree again that I win. LOL. Actually I do wonder when I see other countries' fellows hanging out only within their own communities as I tend to feel isolated then. You're right quest, we need to be open as we can learn so much from other communities.

Gwajyo, please try to read carefully and prudently. Did I accuse you of being non independent, did I say to you that I don't want to hang out with Nepalese. Common dude, you are misunderstanding. Anyway, you win and I loose.

I know that you blamed not being independent to those hanging out with nepalese n' not to me. I do understand your point as I can see other communites hanging out within themselves as I don't get that chance here. I'm not interested in winning game, but I do like win-win theory.
