Planning to submit work authorization (i-765) and travel document (i-131);

is there any benefit from re registering for TPS (i-821), if all three documents were current until 2018.

I think it will cost $50 extra for i-821, is there anyone who has submitted i821 this year with a good reason?

Will DMV renew driving license without current i821 ?

You don’t have to reappy for tps. I applied for ead and travel permit last time and i did the same this last month. I’ve been renewing my driver license with expired ead and old Notice of Action I-797. You can show them the Federal Registar Notice or ask them to perform SAVE verification if they hesitate but yea you should be fine.

There is no need to be disrespectful. Let’s keep Sajha peaceful. If we disagree we can still be polite about it.

Hold on!! "You do not need to re-register if your TPS approval notice has an expiration date of 06/24/2018". Is that right? My approval notice has that expiration date and I filed for re-registration as suggested by Sanaklaalji.

Yes, you don’t need to. Check  table 2 of the following federal register notice .

https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/09/10/2021-19617/continuation-of-documentation-for-beneficiaries-of-temporary-protected-status-designations-for-el

Clearly it says that your notice is automatically extended if your TPS has that expiry date so no need to reapply . You already have TPS.

@ Sanaklaal As per your comment, I already know two people who traveled to Nepal  with advanced parole documents and are back in the US who had the expiration date was 06/24/2018 and didn’t reapply. Stop suggesting people do extra nonsense that they don’t need to.

Don’t listen to this guy galactus. You need a valid tps . Uscis will send you the new tps that expired in 12/30/2022. It will be high risk if you travel with expired document. His assumptions of knowing people who have travelled are just just a imaginary . He doesn’t know who has done that . He just want to bring some figure to scare you . Stay away with these kind of people keto and lucky nepali .
By applying new tps application you will be satisfied

@Sanaklaal

You are so stupid man. You don’t travel with TPS documents . The only way to travel on TPS is with an advance parole document which USCIS will only issue if you have a valid TPS.

I don't know if Sanak's responses were made just to disagree with Thapa and Galactus or he genuinely thinks it is necessary to re-register for TPS for DMV or travel purposes. I want to clarify that an advance parole document is enough to travel outside the US (done twice already). For DMV, expired TPS document along with federal register notice saying TPS that was auto extended is enough. If you are turned away, ask to speak to a supervisor. In California, they usually know, so no hassle.

Galactusji please read this below. Extension applies only if registered within the reregistration period.

Also through this Federal Register notice, DHS automatically extends the validity periods of the Forms I-94 and Forms I-797 listed in Table 2 below previously issued to beneficiaries under the TPS designations for El Salvador, Haiti, Nicaragua, Sudan, Honduras, and Nepal. These extensions apply only if the TPS beneficiary properly filed for re-registration during either the most recent DHS-announced registration period for their country, or any applicable previous DHS-announced re-registration periods for the beneficiary's country,[3] or has a re-registration Start Printed Page 50728application that remains pending. This notice does not extend the validity periods of Forms I-94 or Forms I-797 for any TPS beneficiary who failed to file for TPS re-registration during one of the applicable previous DHS-announced re-registration periods, or for whom a re-registration request has been denied. In addition, the extensions do not apply for any beneficiary from whom TPS has been withdrawn

@Ketofarar

Note that if your expiration date is as shown in that table as I mentioned above then it is extended, there is no question about it unless your TPS was withdrawn for individual reasons. Also, if you have that expiration date then your re-registration date was between Oct. 26, 2016, through Dec. 27, 2016 and the following link also says that it is extended.

https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/temporary-protected-status/temporary-protected-status-designated-country-nepal

See the section “ Registration Period for People Who Already Have TPS”

 Also, if you have an employment authorization document that expired on that 06/24/2018, you can simply use your Alien number and EAD number on self check  website to verify that your EAD( and thus TPS) is still valid(put 12/31/2022 as the new expiration date while checking ). It should show  “Employment authorized” after self check is complete. It just takes a minute or so.

@Galactus

I never re-registered as USCIS sent me a very late initial approval which is why my document was valid till 6/24/2018. I think I still need to submit for late re-registeration. I did that already now. Lets see what response I get from USCIS. I will check the status of my TPS EAD using the link you gave. Thanks!
