Traveling Qatar Airways - How to score a Lounge
I'm traveling to Ktm on Qatar Airways with kids in economy..with a 11 hr transit in Doha. Apparently the Lounges there are only for Business or First class folks. Anyone know some inside tricks to scoring one of the Lounges for free or for a fee for us common peeps?
My transit is at odd hours - they won't give me a complimentary hotel, and paying $200 for it for only half a day (day rate) of realistic stay doesn't make sense.
Do you have a plat card or some other card that has priority pass?
You should have used online ticket and reduce travel time. 11 Hours with kids, how old they are? Please do not say less than a year.
Just go to Qatar airways desk after you arrive and tell 'em you need a hotel . Since your transit time is more than eight hours you'll be able to get one . & that'd be the ORYX ROTANA. It's Qatar airlines' hotel .
Once you get it go thru the immigration and there will be a hotel shuttle outside . If you're confused , call anyone in Nepali coz there are tons of them working at the airport.
Hope this helps . GOOD LUCK
Shagadelic,
Can you please the price one more time? I think its QAR 200 not $200. It comes to be around $50-60 so I think its not too bad. Good Luck!!
With kids it will cost more. Also, others wont appreciate you bringing kids to lounge.
Pretty sure shagadelic is talking about price of a hotel room, not lounge itself.
Look up some travel credit cards that offer perks that include free lounge access. these cards often come with hefty yearly fees (in excess to $400/year), though.
Chase Sapphire Preferred used to offer 2 passes/annum but discontinued it.
Your best bet will be to cough up 40 odd bucks. You'll get to chill in lounge area for 4 to 6 hours with some lounges offering decent range of snacks. in most cases, they won't care if you overstayed.
I have done this once and it worked, but i can't say for sure if it will work for you. When you go to the Qatar airways desk here in USA, tell them you bought the ticket in a hurry for emergency situation and you didnt have time to look around for tickets. Kindly ask them if they can accomodate you with a room once you get to Qatar.
Call them and ask for options. According to their web you should be eligible for complementary hotel.

If you have bought or going to buy tickets in short time before arrival date then you have more benefit perks like low cancellation and adjusting fees and definitely hotel accommodation too if there is more than 16hr transit time. It will most likely give you some plus point.
