I have been working for a Profit company for little over 2 years now. They filed for my H1B this April which got approved over a week ago and I got letter on the mail today. However, after employer filed for my H1B I had a change of heart and was planning on quitting job by the end of Sep 2016. So I never asked employer about my case even for a single time however my supervisor called me couple days ago to notify of approval. I do not have any job offers currently, but I am dead set on quitting. So, what are some reasons that I can give employer when quitting given my H1B suppose to start Oct 01, 2016.

You can literally text/email your HR saying "I quit". That's it.

Being in H1B (Company sponsored), you are immediately out of status if you quit the Job unless you transfer the H1B to different sponsor company. However, H1B transfer takes 4-5 months. Once the other company file the H1B transfer and you get a receipt, then you can just tell current company ' You quit'. Then you are maintaining H1B status. Be careful while transferring your H1B to new company, make sure that new company history is good otherwise you may get RFE or even H1B transfer denied.

neeran you are wrong , it takes about two weeks if no RFE. DO NOT QUIT THE JOB without a transfer ...you will lose your status.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will continue employment with the employer at least until end of 2016.

@yestai__cha

lots of people gave you suggestions. However, nobody asked you this high valued question -

Why you want to quit the job in the first place? H1b has become a rare commodity these days second to GC. You have to go through finding a job, through lottery and you want to let this precious status go - WHY?

to others - what if a person on H1b gets terminated....what are his/her options???

My field of work has probably one of the highest turnover rate in the US due to it being too stressful. Also financial incentive do not justify the stress level at all. That's why I wanted to quit too, but now I will hold onto it until I can go back to Nepal, get married, and bring my wife here. While trying to get married with Nepali girl here I had very horrible and more stressful experiences compared to my work stress. So I may well use this H1B opportunity to get married in Nepal and then will either transfer my H1B to other employer (just to see if work culture different there) or go back to being F1 or TPS (if extended).
