Have you received public assistance in the United States from any source, including the U.S. Government or any State, county, city, or municipality (other than emergency medical treatment), or are you likely to receive public assistance in the future?
I had once (when I was in school) got a short term assistance when I was in school. I had some medical problem and I had to pay nothing for my X-ray then. It was like 6 years back. Now, do I need to say "Yes" to the question above? It is a medical assistance but not emergency medical treatment. I am confused how shall I proceed. Anyone here, could you please help me? Thanks in advance.
I also have the same question. I would appreciate if anybody who was in the same boat share the experience.
Thanks

If I were you, I would answer "yes" and explain the details in a separate page. The reason I am recommending you to answer "yes" is that it shouldn't make you ineligible to apply for GC. If you had applied for food stamp or similar, then that would be a separate story.
On the other hand, if you answer "no" and if an immigration officer thinks you answered untruthfully, you might run into problems. If you have some sort of documents about that medical assistance, attach them as well with your I-485 application.
Disclaimer: I amn't a lawyer, and please take this suggestion with grain of salt, of course.
it would be easier to answer if you come clean on what kind of "public assistance" you received. aba ke ko laj. i hope it is not some freecare/romneycare shit.

Please go to social security administration's website and create a free account (register). Then you can run a check to see if the service you received in the past qualifies as a "public assistance". If you come clean, you should be good to go. Hope it helps !!!
