Any relief on PR re-entry due to earthquake?

Does anyone know if the 6 month (or 1 year) maximum stay outside US for permanent residents is being relaxed in wake of the recent earthquake in Nepal? I have PR family members who left for Nepal a few months before April and due to the current aftermath and impact of the earthquake are unable to return within the 6 months or 1 year mark. They didn't file a re-entry before they left the US.

So do you or anyone know if the recent US government considerations such as providing TPSs is indicative of some sort of overall immigration and re-entry rules relaxation for Nepal? What would you recommend for someone who will likely need to stay in Nepal over a year - do they need to file any paperwork prior to returning for a hassle free entry at the POI ?

Thanks.

They can return before 1 year mark with no issues. If they r returning after 1 year nark and have no reentry permit, they need to go to the US embassy in KTM to apply for returning resident visa with the required documents and proof that the overstay was for given unforeseen reasons. Simply returning after 1 year without reentry permit or returning resident visa might likely result in denial if admission to US at POE.
