My friend had applied MRP from Washington DC Embassy. I checked in the website (some government website in Nepal, I got link from one of the Sajha post) , it says "DISPATCHED" on June 2nd.
What does it mean ? Does it mean it was sent from Nepal ? How long will it take to get Passport ? I called Embassy thousand times, sent email, nobody responses. I called the number 202-667-4550, and always get the answering machine voice. It must be the worst embassy in the world.
Do you guys have any experience on receiving MRP recently ? How to check the current status of my MRP online ?

Received - Received by the embassy.
Check the received section as well. they might have already received it.

in other words do not look at received section, it does not help you.
If your MRP is dispatched on June 2, then you are getting close to receiving it from embassy. Usually our laziest embassy takes few weeks to few months to process (sign, stamp, put on record) the MRPs before they send it out to you.
I am having similar issue. Mine says, it was dispatched on June 18th but haven't received it yet.
Do we have to return the old passport before they could send the new one?
I asked for my old passport and its with me now. I am not sure if I am supposed to return it to get new one.
As per my experience, Department of Passport in Nepal are pretty fast and they respond quickly too via Email. Nepal embassy is the culprit. They do not receive any calls or reply to the emails. I am not sure what's the point of having embassy here if you can't contact them. Normally once it's dispatched from Nepal, it will take about 1 month to 1.5 months to arrive in your mailbox. I know that's pretty lame but that's what it is.
Yes u do need to return the old passport so that they can stamp Cancelled on ur old one before mailing u both passports.
My passport was delivered to washington DC on June 8.
I checked the webiste for all three tabs delivered, dispatched and rejected and I do not see my name anywhere.

When it says dispatched, it means the passport has been sent to “foreign ministry of Nepal” for signature/stamping. Foreign Ministry of Nepal then waits for at least 600 – 800 passports before they mail it to DC as the cost for them to send 100 or 800 passports are same. If you see the term “Dispatched” then you should be getting your MRP within 2 months. But it all depends when Foreign ministry send those passports. All we can do is have Patience as DC embassy can’t help us and neither gives proper answer except “CALL BACK IN 3 WEEKS”
@mancini, u mean ur MRP application along with old passport was delivered to DC on June 8, It seems like Nepal Passport department received one lot from DC on July 07 (Check Received Tab - http://dopmofa.gov.np/mrp-status/missionwise.php) If you are not on the list like you said earlier, then you might wanna wait and check again for another lot from DC on Received Tab.
@ny2: Since they received my passport on June 08, I think the Ministry should have received my passport on the July 7th batch.
