Nepalilaure, good point. Most of the people who are affected are in villages or the Villagers who were renting old houses in kathmandu whose owners were living in secure houses in outskirts of the Kathmandu. I genuinely hope that TPS will benefit real needy people but not the ones whose name did not come up on H1b petition filed by fake dhoti consultancies. Let's say there are some real needy TPS deserving people who need to go home to take care of their loved ones, but tps grants advanced parole but it doesn't guarantee their return to the US anyway if they are inadmissable, in that case how is it going to help them. I think it will only help 2 kinds of Nepalis in the US: 1 ) Nepali lawyers , who will charge 500-1500 for the application, 2) those who did not get selected for h1b or who are illegal . both of them are not affected by the earthquake.

So, the point is not about TPS, its about who is right or wrong. Since the guys who left their country and came to US in any kind of visa (DV, or school and then GC).
If you think about logic, those who came to US in DV dherai na furkine because you got here by mere chances. You are not patriotic to country and give me other kind of bullshit.
Those who came to US via F1 and got GC, remember at the visa interview you said you will return back after the school.
Other type who stays here with Asylum saying this and that, but at the end want to stay in US leaving our country Nepal.
Those who went to US army and fighting for some other country.(So, you love this country more than yours?)
So, I request all the people who comment in Sajha saying this is right or wrong, do not give your bullshit around here. Anyway who came to US, your intention is to stay here.
You are all hypocrite.
I am so fed up of listening to all those crap, I felt like to comment finally.

As for the TPS, how can you know the other person situation. You cannot comment on anything until you are in those person shoe. Even those who want to TPS, they want to stay here.
Final request, instead of giving bullshit, why do not you go back and show how much you love your country.

@stallon: You may be stupid or you think you are smart. I do not want to argue about this point.
But to the answer of your question would be TPS should be provided to all NEEDY Nepalese in US.
Anyway my answer was not to your question. I am responding to you since I do not know the answer of my first sentence.

Being a Naturalized US citizen and from that perspective, Nepalese in US deserve to have TPS in time like this.

TPS is not Obama's property.

Congress has given authority under Immigration law to General Attorney to use power to grant TPS in any events like this.

Obama admin is playing politics over TPS. They are controlling through DHS and DOJ who to grant TPS .
Remember, this current General Attorney is also Black, DHS boss is Black, They all are into helping

African Countries first, then they will think of others.

They have approved TPS to Liberian, Guinean, and Sierra Leon. And they can go back to Ebola infected area and come back to US. What a joke!!!

Nepalese in US deserve to have TPS. Period.

I agree with Nepali Lahure. I thought once Nepal is granted TPS, it will be easier for Nepalese, whose family need them to visit Nepal due to Earth Quake can go to Nepal and come back without any trouble. I don't think it is ethical to take an advantage of EarthQuake just to get work permit.

No offense to anyone, but mero bichaar maa haamile TPS paaune chance kam chha. Kinaki (again, no offense to anyone) haami nata African/kaale ho, na ta Nepal ko main religion Islam nai ho. Obama le herney yo dui categories ho, and we don't qualify in any of them.

Sad but true. Status Pidit bhainchha, basinchha :(

I should have worded right. Yah, we do so many unethical things in our life . No one is saint but I feel like taking advantage of Earthquake situation back home is just not right thing to do. So many people has died and so many people are suffering due to Earth quake and it does simply does not sounds right to take advantage of such situation. I did sign for TPS assuming that it might some people who can go back to Nepal to be with their family who otherwise can;t do so due to various reasons

@rahasya: I got your point valid. But what will the person going from here to Nepal will do after the earthquake? The economy of the country is pushed 10 years back. The jobs would be scarce. The person may need to support his or her family. They may need to look after their ill relative and parents.
With the TPS, the person here may get opportunity to work. This will generate money. Some of the earned money can be donated to the victims. Also, the person earning money here will contribute the economy by sending money back for various reason. With the send money more jobs can be created. I am not talking about big help but every thing counts.
If you are looking at direct help, then there may not be. But if you are looking at different perspective the TPS will help many fellow Nepalese.
Just my 2 cent thoughts.

Time to revisit this thread again, Looks like 7.8 was enough to Trigger TPS, Congratulation to all F1, OPT/CPT and Visa-Overstayed Folks.

Bro, I am not seeing any substancial help for F1 students. I have been hearing that, Once you apply TPS and work under that EAD, you are no more F1 and can't come back to your previous status once TPS is expired...all the students are now in risks of loosing their legal status if they apply for TPS.

TPS is a legal status, i think you can still go to school an take less than minimum required courses than international student and work >20 hrs at the same time, i dont see any dilemma here

http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/pressrelease/TPSBosnie-Herzegovina_083000.pdf

How does the termination of TPS affect former TPS beneficiaries?
After the designation of Bosnia-Herzegovina for TPS is terminated on February 10, 2001,
aliens who are nationals of Bosnia-Herzegovina (and aliens having no nationality who
last habitually resided in Bosnia-Herzegovina) will revert back to the immigration status
they had prior to TPS, unless they have been granted another immigration status.
The stay of removal and eligibility for employment authorization due to the designation
of Bosnia-Herzegovina under the TPS program will no longer be available. However, the
termination of the TPS designation for Bosnia-Herzegovina will not affect any pending
applications for other forms of immigration relief.
Those persons who received TPS under the Bosnia-Herzegovina designation will begin to
accrue unlawful presence as of February 10, 2001, if they have not been granted any
other immigration benefit or have no application for such a benefit pending. Under the
1996 Immigration Act, aliens who accrue 180 days to 364 days of unlawful presence may
be barred from admission to the United States for a period of three years. Aliens who
accrue 365 days or more of unlawful presence may be barred from admission to the
United States for a period of 10 years.
