****Goat Farming in Nepal****
Nepal ma large scale ma goat farming garda kasto hola ? kati ko profit garna sakiyela ? I want to invest about Nrs 20 Lakh in goat farming in nepal. Is it doable ? Ma nepal farkera Goat farming garne sochira chu.
Thanks.
Hi Racheeta,
Let's do it together! I have huge land plot in Nepal. I also have more 20 different ideas to work on, and investing time and money working on these projects would definitely make me happier than what I am doing here in the US. Currently, I am a 3rd year PhD student, but this PhD is making me more miserable everyday. I am not sure how many more years its going to take me to complete it, perhaps 6/7 or 8 more! I just don't want to squander the most valuable time of my life in this "mrigatrishna". You can email me your number and we chat in detail.

I think anything is doable in Nepal if you've the will ..here's one eg.
http://www.ekantipur.com/np/2070/12/23/full-story/387001.html
A sheep in its first year is called a lamb; and its meat is also called lamb. The meat of a juvenile sheep older than one year is hogget; outside North America this was also a term for the living animal,[2] but this meaning is now largely obsolete. The meat of an adult sheep is mutton,
Lol H2s, 8 years for a PHD sounds rough to me! When I was a small child in Nepal, my mom use to have two goats. Whenever goat had babies, I used to become so excited because goat's babies are so cute !!
Large scale goat farming = low quality meat = health problems for consumers
For good quality: you have to grow yourself. What are you talking about?
Have you not heard of "Organic"? Of course nothing can be better than if you do it yourself, but there are farmers that can be trusted. In Europe and western US, people are starting to be more and more conscious about the low quality so called food we eat today and the diseases it comes along with it.
But since the objective is to make money, you cannot count so much on quality.
As for food, something I inject into my body, I would rather pay more and get a better quality even if I eat less.

We are not expert but we can boost your moral. location location and location is the first thing you need to consider.
You can not rely only on feeding at your farm as farming chicken that will be very costly, it should be 50/50.
Out of all feasible businesses why would you want to be involved in a business like goat farming where you are essentially raising goats to be slaughtered.
It might be a personal thing too but I would never want to make such blood money.
rango breeding has even greater scope in nepal, and its lot profitable considering the investment per calf.
Without killing , you would not get Vegitables , vegitibles are living things too.
To get milk : you are stealing calves shares, is that fair too ?

It seems this disussion has started from last 7 months, has anyone started the business yet.
Still collecting advise from Sajha experts.
Individual planning also coinside to National planning, still on physibility study. Timing does not matter : focus is on study, do not want to be failure.
Goat farming is a very good business for Nepal. There is plenty of demand over there. We can start farming over there. I gone to Pasu Sewa Nirdesanalaya for advice. He told me that there should be about 40 goats for profitable business. There are many schemes and training from District Amimal office. So I'm looking for a partner to start this business. Bank loan is also available.
I always wonder why meat product in Nepal is expensive in compared to vegetable. Here is US chicken is cheaper than Vegetable. For past 4 years I'm doing my own research about the meat market in Nepal. I learned that Goat would be the best thing for new starter... I have a limited budget to invest, I have a school friend who just graduated in veterinary, but I am missing a good location and moral support !!
Just kidding :) :)
