PIMS Verification Question
Has anyone experienced a delay in visa processing due to PIMS verification. I am visiting Nepal on 3rd week of May and the PIMS verification is not done yet. My lawyer says it can take between 3 to 6 months. His charge for this is extremely high as well ( $405 +300 his fee = $ 705).
Is it safe to travel Nepal without the PIMS verification and have the H1B stamped?
By the way, if somebody does not know what PIMS means, it is a short form of
'Pacific Institute of Mathematical Sciences'. This institute is in Vancouver, Canada.

Just kidding!!!!
Come on if you don't know or have no idea, please don't waste your time. Serious replies only.
When I read the title of your post, I thought you wanted some info about the PIMS institute, which I could provide in great details. That is why I clicked on your thread. Once I was in, I was like......what??????????? so I thought of joking. Take it easy. Hope someone could help you out.
When did you get your H1B? Why are you paying the lawyer to verify PIMS? If your H1B was approved recently then when you apply for visa in Nepal, it may take time for PIMS to be verified.
my h1 got approved about 7 months ago. $ 705 is what he is asking for 300 his fee plus $405. No i have not applied, I am going to Nepal in June and I am will apply the first week of June. Thanks
just send an email to visa consular section in Kathmandu saying that you are coming for visa stamping and ask them to verify PIMS. do this few weeks prior before traveling to Nepal
They will reply within a week saying your data has been updated.
There is nothing more you have to do.
Not sure why lawyer is asking money for this.
also, PIMS verification is not mandatory.
Below is there response after sending email...

Dear Mr. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Thank you for your email and the I-797 you provided. We have verified your record in the PIMS; you are good to apply at Nabil Bank. Unfortunately, we do not accept on-line or over-the-phone application. Currently, our wait-time for an interview appointment is about 2 days.
We suggest that you to apply for an appointment as early as possible, and if you have any problems with the schedule given by Nabil Bank, please email us and we will be happy to assist.
Best regards,

Thank you stupida bro. you are the best.
Lawyer is trying to cheat money from you and I don't know how lawyer handle this. PIMS verification is only done by govt officials.. Don't waste money... It takes two business days for Embassy to get updates on PIMS.
stupida bro ,
can you send me the email that you sent to ktm consular asking for PIMS verification. Need to see what to write in that email. Thanks

Subject: H1-B Visa Stamping
Hello and Namaste,
I am coming to Nepal next week for my H1-B Visa Stamping. Currently, I am working for a client - XXXXXXXXXXX, and my presence here is very critical as we are in the phase of production move in early March. I just have over 2 weeks of vacation. I am an employee of XXXXXXXX. I have attached a copy of my H1-B approval.
Is there a way I can get an interview date over a web or even on the phone for my H1-B visa? I looked the embassy website, but was unable to find any useful resources. Also, if you could please forward this to necessary personal/department to update my information on the system to expedite the process. Is there anything that I could do on my part to make the process smooth and less time consuming?
Please feel free to contact for any further information or concerns. Your timely and helpful reply is highly appreciated. Thank you.
Sincerely,

Namaskar !!, Good Afternoon , …
Once again, I am coming to Nepal, the 3rd week of October for mine and my wife (XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) H1B/H4 Visa Stamping. I have attached here our ‘Notice Of Action’ I-797 A form.
Please update\verify our record in the PIMS.
As this is during the holiday seasons, and with limited days of vacation from work, I will do everything on my part so that Visa can be done as soon as possible. Also, as in the past, If the interview date cuts close, I will definitely notify.
Once again Thank you !! And Wish you all Happy Dashai and Tihar !!!
Please feel free to contact for any further information or concerns.
Sincerely,
Thanks for the information.
thanks guys,
the old balatkaari is new laalmon now.
I had my H1B stamping a month and a half ago. I gave an interview and I was told that they have to verify the PIMS update and they would call me within a week. In few days, I was issued a Visa.
No need of lawyer or any fee. As other folks has mentioned above, write an email and ask them to update the PIMS. I did not wrote an email even though I knew it, but I learned from several blogs that sometime embassy will update the PIMS and sometime they say that they can't update until you come for an interview.
Also, I ahd my H1b 2 years ago but still my PIMS wasn't updated !!!!
Good luck !!!
