 hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the US visa interview documentation on Relationship certificate.

Two years ago when i applied for USA visa, I did not show my elder brother (Who is married, independent and living separately) in the relationship certificate. I just included dad, mom and me and got the visa. Now i want to invite my parents for my graduation ceremony on December. So now while making the document, my parents in Nepal are confused whether to include elder brother in the relation certificate or not. Will it be wise for them to include my elder brother in the relationship certificate ??

Please i need your help. Please let me know if you went through such case.

It dont really matter.. i didnt included my younger brother on VISA but later my parents included brother while taking an interview.. but it really does matter if its your younger brother or elder.. younger will certainly tie bonds.. elder does not..and seems like they wont come back.. my view though..

i think kesar you are getting me wrong and i might even have not clarified the stuff i said, I was talking about the Relationship certificate. I believe if there are any questions regarding brothers/sisters while filling up the VISA application, You should certainly mention it. i gave interview long time back so i don't remember whether there is any portion or part where you have to tell about your brother/sister

@GuitarCenter: Thank you for the response. I just wanted to know whether it creates problem showing elder brother in parents relationship document whom i didnt show before.  I am glad you had the same type of case. I think showing my elder brother will tie family bonds in the home country. They can say they have son and grand children in Nepal. Most importantly the VO will ask .. who will take care of your property and business when you are in usa? so .. they can say my son will take care.

@Kesar: Relation certificate huncha (you call Nata pramanit in Nepali). You need to verify the relationship of your family or atleast parents from the municipality

@GuitarCenter: Once while i was in Nepal, my friend told me that he was denied visa beacause his sister did not show him in the relationship certificate while applying to usa some 2 or 3 years ago before him. What do you think about this? Does this sound logical ?

I need more response from ppl who went through the same case as mine. Plz respond everyone

@santustaatma I don't know about others.. Different people different situations and different reply. Tara when i applied. On my relationship certificate i kept my uncle, me and my father only. Because one property was in my uncle's name. So that ties to my family and when asked question i said i was in Joint Family. NOW when my parents applied, Somehow by Luck or whatever you guys might consider. In relationship certificate we had 4 people. Me brother dad and mom.. You never know what's on interviewer's mind.. I believe its completely on interviewer's mind... If you brother is married.. i strongly suggest your parents not to tell he is married.. coz they might think your brother is married.. and now if your parents come here.. they might settle here.. Just my view points..

why you need to show साखा सन्तान relationship to consular?
The only relationship your parents need to show is that you are their son. Thats it.
why need to show brother and sister relationship who are not coming to USA? Then your parents need to show relationship of your grandparents, grandchildrens everyone in the house too.

However the consular might ask if they have any other children living in USA. Or they might ask how many children you have.

I did not show any relationship certificate when I came to USA in student visa. Your character certificate from school or college will have your father's name printed on it. So no need to show any other relationship.Your passport will have either your mother's or father's name on it. So that record will be with embassy.

My parents got visa for my graduation and they showed relationship certificate with me, mother and father from. No brother and sisters, neices, nephews, grandparents.

I think do not show the brother if there is not including before, my suggestion is not use relationship certificate. Please see the website of US embassy and take some guidance from there.

Do you want to hear little more radical idea?

Relationship Certificate is one of the bullshit documents.... I am not saying this..one of the lawyers is.
You know why? Evidently, it's only produced in Nepal. hahahaha...Nowhere else in the world.

Since people submit it, and it makes sense for them, so the embassy accepts it and perhaps looks at it. I have stopped giving too much of thought into it anymore.

Does it now make sense why it didn't make too much of difference in many peoples' case?
