You make an excellent point. However, Republicans have shown no intention of showing mercy to illegal immigrants. They understand that in 2028, they won’t have anyone to challenge the Democratic Party, and a Democrat will likely be elected. Because of this, they are not interested in pleasing anyone.

A 21-year-old Columbia University student who has lived in the United States since she was a child sued President Donald Trump and other high-ranking administration officials on Monday after immigration officials tried to arrest and deport her.

The student, Yunseo Chung, is a legal permanent resident and junior who has participated in pro-Palestinian demonstrations at the school. The Trump administration is arguing that her presence in the United States hinders the administration’s foreign policy agenda of halting the spread of antisemitism.

Administration officials, including the secretary of state, Marco Rubio, cited the same rationale in explaining the arrest this month of Mahmoud Khalil, a graduate of the university and permanent resident who is being held in Louisiana.

Uscis needs to decide fate of tps before 60 days of expiration .if uscis did not do that tps and ead will automatically extend for 6 months .I am wondering why uscis did not gave decision to south sudan and Afghanistan....any one knows anything about them?Nepal will be next

lets say if DHS announces South Sudan’s TPS is ending only 7 days before May 3, 2025, it’s not enough time since they’re supposed to warn everyone 60 days earlier by March 4, so the law says it should auto extend to November 3, 2025; but with this new admin, they might try to cancel it anyway or say the extra time doesn’t matter later, and people might take it to court because they weren’t told soon enough, the automatic extra time was skipped, or they didn’t have a chance to plan ahead....looks like everything is going to court

They are doing this just to avoid people going to the court. There is no court case before the announcement. They will just catch them once the time is finished and deport them before the judge can issue decision. I think this is just a strategy for this admin.

@ShaniDev:
I totally agree with you.
The government has introduced a new approach to TPS. Instead of deciding whether to renew or rescind it at least 60 days before expiration, it now grants an automatic six-month extension. This extension, however, does not include a grace period. No Jatra or Tamasha in court—of revoking or extending TPS. Once the six months end, TPS holders automatically lose their status unless they have applied for another lawful status during that time.

dont they have to announce the decision within that 6 months auto extension, and if they dont, then it should auto extend again?

@username619,

I can’t make it any simpler than this. We’re just guessing based on how the government didn’t extend or revoke South Sudan’s TPS within the 60-day notice period.

For example, if Nepal’s TPS ends on June 24, 2025, and there’s no 60-day notice from the government, the TPS holders can stay and work automatically for six more months, until December 24, 2025. But on December 25, while you’re celebrating Christmas and exchanging gifts, your status will change to illegal if you only have TPS. If you have another status, you're fine.

Let the TPS game play itself. No court drama, no media attention. That’s their motto.

Not trying to sidetrack from the agenda here, but Florida is trying to pass a bill to relax child labor law to fill up the position vacated by illegal immigrants. They want children to work on those jobs lol.

Don't lose hope! You might get selected or the H1B this year, or you can go back to college and complete your Masters. There are various options once you get 6 months extension.
