Has anyone applied for an NRN card through the DC embassy recently? I’ve been trying to contact them for the past two weeks, but no one is answering the phone. I’m wondering—do I need to formally renounce my Nepali citizenship before applying for the NRN card? I noticed the application form asks for the date of renunciation, but it doesn’t seem to require any proof or certificate of renunciation. Any insights would be appreciated.
Also what advantage does it carry if you traveling once in 4 years or so to Nepal? Is NRN card even worth ?
I guess visa fee. You can also bring your $$ here legally max. Anyone ???
As far as I know, this is a grey area. Nepal doesn't really monitor or keep track of who has renounced Nepali citizenship. It is usually understood that the day you became US citizen, you renounced your Nepali citizenship. So, I believe that will be your date of renunciation.
