CLEVELAND, Ohio — An Akron man has died after authorities said he was fatally stabbed early Sunday morning.

At 3:45 a.m., Akron police were dispatched to the 300 block of Patterson Avenue because a caller had reported people fighting. When police and EMS arrived, they found that Kunal Yonghang, 37, had been stabbed in the neck, police said in a statement.

Before he died, Yonghang identified Buddhi Tamang, 34, as the person who had stabbed him. Other witnesses also told police that Tamang stabbed Yonghang, said Akron police spokesman Lt. Michael Murphy.

Officers believe Tamang and Yonghang had been arguing earlier in the night. After the initial confrontation, Tamang left and later returned. He jumped out of his vehicle and stabbed Yonghang, Murphy said.

Tamang remained on scene when officers arrived. He was arrested and charged with murder and felonious assault, according to Murphy and the Summit County Jail.

The office of the Summit County medical examiner is still conducting an autopsy but has ruled the death a homicide.

Tamang is in jail on a $1 million bond. A grand jury is expected to consider charges against him within weeks.
