I am sure you all are either in the process of graduating from college or have graduated from college.  So let's put on our critical thinking cap on. I read through the paper (NOT peer reviewed journal paper, mind you) that MNO linked above.  Sure there are some mathematics related to the positionings of planets - which I had already acknowledged above.  However, nothing in the paper answers my questions.  In fact, the paper itself raises many inconsistencies and errors in astrological thinking when mathematically analyzed. My problem with this astrology thingie is there are are lot of assumptions with absolutely no logic. If a certain "planet" is in certain "house", certain things happen or certain "character" gets accentuated.  But there is no explanation anywhere, not only in the said paper but also in any publication that I have found, why that is so? Mercury promotes Communications.  Venus promotes Harmony.  Mars promotes Energy.  And so on.  But HOW?  What is it about, say Mars for example, emanate Energy so uniquely.  I wonder the recent Mars robots "Curiosity" is now fully infused with this "Energy". See, in my opinion (and it is just my opinion, no disrespect to anybody) this jyotishi thingie is culturally legitimized scam that preys on weak and/or lazy minds.

Here is a very good scientific debuking about astrology by Carl Sagan. Pls have a look.. This is a part of the series "Cosmos", which is also a very good watch and very informative.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... "How could the rising of Mars at the moment of my birth affect me, then or now? I was born in a closed room. Light from Mars couldn't get in. The only influence of Mars which could affect me is its gravity, but the gravitational influence of the obstetrician was much larger than the gravitational influence of Mars. Mars is a lot more massive but the obstetrician was a lot closer."
