My H1B will kick in from 10/1/2012. Currently, I am working in OPT (CAP GAP) and I want to transfer my H1B from Dhoti Consultancy to My current client that I am working for. What is the process to transfer my H1B from dhoti consultancy to new employer? Has anyone done this before or know someone who has gone through this process? Do I need to wait until October to transfer my H1B or can I do it right now? Any kind of suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

PS, Your best option is to wait until you are technically in H1B, which only starts from 10/01/2012. This is my advice to you. Wait until you start in H1B for consultancy, plan to work for 2 pay-period whcih is about a month or so. At the same time, start preparing paper work for new H1B from your client, and as soon as you have 2 pay period stuffs, file in premium processing. It is better to wait until you receive at least your "receipt notice" to start working for client. But In my case I started working prior to receipt notice. My case was not same as yours, But I did trasfer my H1 from consutancy to client directly. Auta arko kura sathi, since you said consultancy, almost 100 % ppl in consultancy ma resume bada ko huncha, teyo sacho hudaie na. When you file from client H1b, you cannot present same 5-6 years resume to present to USCIS. you have to prsent original. Now be careful what happens if HR finds that ur resume is differnt than what you have originally submiited. Hope this helps... Going back to H1B transfer, since you are not techincally in H1B right now, you cannot transfer and you have to file a new one for your client and the quota is over alrady for thsi year. I might be wrong here, But I would not check chances Also, there is no USCIS term called H1 transfer. The process of filing new H1B and transfering old H1b to new employer is exactly same, The only difference is when you transfer, you don't fall under CAP-RULE, while new H1B applicants do.
