Bimal Dangi is an artist who began singing Saregamapadhanisa on harmonium and completed his education of classic music with Madal and Sarangi. Dangi is better known as a folk singer who can co-ordinate the folk music sung in villages and rural areas to a larger audience in a unique way. Bimal Dangi who was born in Jufal-6, Dangiwada, used to listen to songs of Lok bahadur Chetri from his childhood. He used to sing folk songs and modern songs played in Radio Nepal. Dangi never walked away from singing at any event in village and used to get excited when people appreciated his songs and voice.   Dangi who came from western part of Nepal says that he never imagined that he would achieve such a success after coming to Kathmandu. He says hard work and dedication can make anyone successful in any area. He is a singer with ability to sing all different kinds of songs like folk-duet, solo folk songs, eastern songs, kathe songs, deuda, salailo, tappa, roila, modern and film songs. Dangi who began his singing career around 2001 is one of the rare artists who did a diploma in classic music from Lalitkala Campus.   While asked why an individual who obtained education in classical music went on singing folk songs, he says that he did not want to kill the folk music within him. In 2002, Bimal Dangi was awarded the Certificate of Grade-A. At this time in America, Dangi has already performed 7 times in New York, twice in Texas, in Boston, Baltimore, Washington DC, California, Rochester etc.   Dangi who is in America presently, informed us that he is in the final stages of coming out with 4 folk-duet albums. He is also presenting a program called “Gambesi Ka Dhunharu” in White Himal Television in a weekly manner. Dangi who has been to over 60 districts in Nepal has sung over 200 songs.Dangi who became popular with “Panas Ma Batti Baleko” is known as a very creative artist who can sing any kind of song. All different kinds of songs like folk duet, solo folk songs, kathe song, eastern song, deuda, salaijo, tappa, roila, modern and film songs have come out in the market in his voice. According to him, all of his songs are very much loved by his audience.   Dangi who mostly sings songs related to love affairs and the pain of separation is known by his audience more as the one who sings about pain and tragedy than songs of happiness and joy. His latest song “Yo mutu timrai ho” has become extremely popular among the Nepali audience all across the world. This is the song with the highest number of CRBT downloads in the entire Nepali Folk Music industry.   Bimal Dangi who did a huge solo show of his “Bimal Dangi Solo Evening” in 2008, runs “Panas Radhi Club Sajh” in Kathmandu. Dangi who has been awarded several times is the receipt of many prestigious national awards like 1st spot in Folk song competition organized by Radio Nepal in 2012, Hits FM Music Award 2006, Hits FM Music Award 2008, National Creativity Award 2010, Youth Peace Ambassador and currently best folk singer on Aug 8th Music Khabar Music Award organized by Music Khabar.   Besides folk singing, he also produced a film called “Namaste Dolpa” in 2009. It is the first movie in Dolpali language. He also made a documentary with the subject of Yarsagumba. Dangi who used to present shows on televisions and radio in Nepal is considered to be one of the most dynamic and creative talents by the audience. An expert in song and lyrics collection, Dangi has been presenting his numerous talents among Nepali community in America through different programs and events.
