Then, again, do not tell me, as a good man did to-day, of my obligation to put all poor men in good situations. Are they my poor? I tell thee, thou foolish philanthropist, that I grudge the dollar, the dime, the cent, I give to such men as do not belong to me and to whom I do not belong. There is a class of persons to whom by all spiritual affinity I am bought and sold; for them I will go to prison, if need be; but your miscellaneous popular charities; the education at college of fools; the building of meeting-houses to the vain end to which many now stand; alms to sots; and the thousandfold Relief Societies; — though I confess with shame I sometimes succumb and give the dollar, it is a wicked dollar which by and by I shall have the manhood to withhold.” Small community but huge competition, few enterprises but large number of unproductive events and organizations, less output but more talks, less unity but multiple cultural programs, praises in front of your face but stabbing at your back are few double standards that so called dignified members of Nepalese society have carried all the way to America across the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. It seems that our respected professionals of Nepalese society only believe in “zero-sum game” where if one has to win, another person must be defeated. This win-lose concept has been carried out to such an extreme that small community of Nepalese in New York is divided into hundred different groups each with their own agendas, prejudices and self-serving propaganda machines. To carry out these biases, they either come out with some new media or organize a fashion show, a cultural event with money from businesses created by few hard-working entrepreneurs. Nepalese society both in Nepal and America has more consumers than producers. Instead of creating an enterprise that provides quality services and creates jobs for many, Nepalese in America have been busy organizing worthless events that neither create opportunities nor benefit those people contributing for these events. They are as dead as their creators when it comes to influencing the society positively or enhancing the image of Nepal or Nepalese people. Nepalese people thus have been unable to rise above the sea of mediocrity they are in. It is hard to think out of the box when you are yourself inside the box. Jackson Heights and Ridgewood are among those boxes these so called professionals use to hide their heads in like the Ostrich buries its head into the sand. Even American educated Nepalese who are more open-minded, entrepreneurial and are busy pursuing their dreams and goals are being polluted by these germs of Nepalese society who sometimes pose as journalists, social workers or even as politicians. These diseases have become so parasitic that even the businesses that were feeding them are trying to hide as soon as the stench of these people appears. These people have never been educated in an open-minded society like America. Neither have they associated with successful people nor do they care enough to learn from societies advanced than ourselves. They have never learnt that only way to succeed and make ourselves rich is by “win-win” philosophy where benefit of all those concerned in a particular transaction is considered. They are only taught the tenet of corrupt Nepalese society which is “win-lose” scenario or a “zero-sum” game where you succeed only by failing somebody. These people have carried this disease to America and it exists at every corner of Jackson Heights and Ridgewood where they hang out with a cup of $1 tea in their hands all day doing nothing. This epidemic of hatred and envy of people who are succeeding and the culture of self-serving in Nepalese society has already brought the nation into ruins on the one hand. On the other hand, it has reached to America through some infected journalists and social workers to pollute the American air where Nepalese youths educated and trained in America are trying their best to pursue their dreams and goals of financial prosperity and happiness. While the American society is keeping busy moving ahead through inventions and new ideas, these so called professionals of Nepal, seem only prone to pull us backward into the systems that have been tried all over the world and have failed. If communism was a correct ideology, it would have survived. It is as good as dead in China and Russia as they are more capitalistic these days than America itself. Moreover, to an amazement of many folks, these people who hate America and American system have landed in America. They have even gone as far to invite their leaders here who have collected thousands of votes in Nepal calling America “nation of bloodsuckers” and land of capitalists. I do not know when this trend of double standards is going to end among Nepalese folks. I surly hope it ends before our own identity as Nepalese becomes synonymous with the double standard society instead of proud but honest descendants of Gurkhas. I would not mind if a Nepalese brought up here in America refuses to be identified with Nepal and Nepalese, for sometimes, I think of doing so myself. Couldn't agree more. There is this guy name 'vasudev' he often tags me as Type 2 Nepalese for having thoughts similar to yours :D Are we Type 2 for having such genuine thoughts?

Such type of articles have been written in media numerous times butकाग कराउदै गर्छ पीना सुक्दै जान्छ . This is universal truth and it is human nature to be wanting to be popular. You are one of them trying to be popular by posting photo :) So this is not any new thing in the society. Every Nepali knows about this and some of them have told straight in those people's face. You can try writing about some new things done by Nepalis here:) Please write about some good stuff done by nepalese no more picnic and party issues. Garne haru moj gardai garcha, ham lai k ko tauko dukhai. Lets put your brain in more productive thinking. Optimistic thinking.
