VIDEO COURTESY OF BINOD SINGH DHAMI   If we were to think deeply, Nepal is a country full of potential and possibilities in numerous sectors. Unfortunately, even with the availability of all sorts of possibilities within our own country, many talented and capable youths are fleeing out in search of better opportunities where they have the platform to utilize their knowledge and skills. Well when all the doors of possibilities and opportunities have been shut, they are left with no other option. More than 1200 Nepalis leave the country every day in search of opportunities. As devastating as it sounds this is the truth and what’s even more saddening is that this situation isn’t getting any better. With all these facts and figures, it is quite evident that the political leaders should do something to discontinue this phenomenon. But why haven’t there been any measures taken yet? Is it because they don’t realize the impact of this in our county or is it because the responsible people are too entangled in their own personal affairs? Either way, it is the general population bearing the impact of the poorly run managerial system of our country. Similarly, a country where eight out of top ten highest mountains in the world is located , where the biodiversity is so incredible that the rarest animals, birds and even plants on earth can be encountered and to top that with our rich culture, arts and architecture, Nepal is undoubtedly a center of attraction for tourists. Despite that, Visit Nepal 2011 was unable to reach its target of welcoming 1 million tourists. Once again, it all comes down to the political leaders .With all the bandas and strikes happening almost every other day, the average stay and expenditure made was significantly hampered. However, the possibilities in Nepal don’t end here. Being the second richest nation in water resources after Brazil, Nepal has a huge hydro power potential. Nepal’s topography provides an ideal condition for some of the world’s largest hydroelectric projects but none of the several political parties is capable of creating an environment that is attractive for investors to initiate such projects. It is a shame that even with this tremendous amount of hydro potential, Nepal is in darkness and Nepali citizens are going through long hours of load shedding every day. Essentially, growth and empowerment of opportunities is stagnant in Nepal. The only way this trend can be broken is by creating a steady and liable government. So, it is about time that all the political leaders realize that they are so busy with their own internal affairs that they have been putting Nepal’s future in jeopardy. All the leaders from all the different parties should rise above from their  self-interest and take actions that can utilize all the assets that Nepal is blessed with. The current environment in Nepal is nothing but discouraging and demoralizing for the Nepali youths. The lack of opportunities, employment and benefits is forcing Nepali youths to escort to foreign countries just so they can pay their loans back. Creating a safe and stable environment can not only help combat “brain drain” but also attract and encourage millions of Nepali youths living in foreign countries to return and work in their own motherland.
