Heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of the departed ones. Now that we have experienced this natural disaster, I think the concerned authorities should develop a sustainable emergency alert system for similar threat-prone areas. That would allow the downstream communities all the way to the Bay of Bengal to prepare themselves and minimize the loss of lives and properties.
