Stay in OPT for a while or H1?

Hello guys who have gone through this, i need some genuine suggestions? Looking at the market, the economy now, things have changed a lot since last year. More jobs are here now, investors are not as scared for business ventures. And here I am with a decent job, working under OPT. I have worked for almost a year under OPT and haev just filed for extension. My question to u guys...should i continue working in OPT for after i get the 17 months and file for H1 in before i have about 6 months left out of the extended 17months or should I do that as soon as I get the 17months extension accepted? what are the pro and cons of rushing and not rushing right now, after all H1 also lets u work plus there are other liabilities as well like more tax etc.. please all senior bro and sis, who have gone through this, i need some genuine advice.. Zeepa, I prefer staying in OPT for 17 months. Believe me OPT is a golden opportunity given by USCIS to international student. So why you are thinking to waste it? There are lots of advantages while in OPT. Like you You can save lot in taxes, and you don't have to worry about status if you get laid off or fire. After you complete 10 months of your OPT extension, talk to your employer to file H1b and Green card after 1 or 2 months. Filing Greencard before H1b is risky because you are applying Immigrant Visa while in Non-Immigrant Visa unlike H1b which is Dual intent visa. Best of luck, these are my $.02

H-1 is like a H1N1 virus if you are working in a project thru consultancy. First, get some experience in a job market, make sure you can get job by yourself evethough you get fired, then go for H-1, at the same moment complete your grad school and then apply for GC. yehi undergrad Omaha bata gareko le ta, 7-8 barsa samma GC aaune kaat chaat dekhina haii !!! yeso gare kaso hola
