Seven congressional hopefuls participate in Everett labor debate March 26th, 2012 by Christina Salerno | Filed under Election. Seven candidates who are vying to replace former U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee in the 1st Congressional District race participated in a debate sponsored by the Washington State Labor Council AFL-CIO on Friday night. Inslee, a Democrat, resigned the seat earlier this month to focus on his bid for governor. The Democratic candidates who participated in the debate included state Sen. Steve Hobbs of Lake Stevens, state Rep. Roger Goodman of Kirkland, Darcy Burner of Carnation, Suzan DelBene of Medina, Darshan Rauniyar of Bothell and Laura Ruderman of Kirkland. Independent Larry Ishmael of Redmond also participated in the debate, which was held the Machinists Union Hall in Everett. Republican John Koster declined to attend.
