Transit visa through GUANGZHOU

Hello friends,  I am planning to travel to Nepal this May and I got a really cheap two way ticket.  The route is via the West coast >>> Guanzhou, China  >>>> Kathmandu.   Now, I checked the Chinese VISA regulations and found Nepali nationals need to apply for a transit visa when flying through China even when we hold the ticket to our end destination. We have to specifically apply for it through the Chinese embassy before we fly out. We dont even get an on arrival transit visa. Is this true?  Has anyone in Sajha ever flown via Guanzhou? If this is true than we are treated as nothing short of untouchables.  How sad... Has someone with similar experience through China? ThulDai

This isn't true. I am here in Korea and several of my friends and relatives have gone to Nepal via Guanzhao (which is a cheaper route as well BTW) and didn't require transit visa. So, if u hols a Nepali passport, dont worry, you will be fine.

How long is the transit? If it is less than 24 hours, I dont think you will need a transit visa but if it is over 24 hours, you might have to apply for one. Read under Visa-free transit. http://www.freechinavisa.org/t...

Thank you for your replies. My travel agent checked with the Chinese embassy and they told her that Nepalis do need a trasit visa. So travelling through China is ruled out. However, I managed to get an aeven cheaper ticket through Delhi so it has all worked out. Thank you...

What's the amout that you're referring to as "cheap", if I may ask? Just curious as I live in the West Coast too.

 $1,650 only

That is too cheap in peak season of the year, where did you buy it from? i am also planning to home at the end of May.

Thuldai, I don't think $1650 via Delhi is a 'cheap' fare even for the peak season. Please check more websites like bookingbuddies and tripadvisor etc.
