http://www.parakhi.com/blogs/2... January 19, 2012 By: shristy One click is all it takes in today's world. The world is rapidly advancing with technological breakthroughs. What was impossible a decade ago is part of normal life today. I still remember when I first got my cell phone. It was a old black and white Samsung model with an antenna on top that my dad gave me after I finished 10th grade. Four years later my brother received a Sony Ericsson with video camera, music and what not, and today he uses a touchscreen. There was a time when touchscreen was a big thing. I wanted to send my dad a birthday gift and all I had to do was go to www.shopnbds.com, a shopping center in Nepal that also provides online services. A few clicks later I got a phone call from my dad saying that he received all his gifts. One click and you can cheer up someone's day, and make your loved ones feel precious. Who would have thought that this would have been possible by being thousands of miles away from my family. Same with my cell phone bills. You just have to go to the website of your service provider and a few clicks will let you clear all your dues. I was thinking what if I didn't have online banking how much difficult would it be for me to keep track of my transactions. Online shopping has made things so much easier that when we get bored we can sit at our ease and look through any item we want to buy. As students we buy most of our books online. We can sit at home and still be shopping. However, this is more common in the US than it is in Nepal. I believe in the coming days more people in Nepal will be shopping online. A few clicks can allow you to find anything on the web. Hasn't Google made all of our lives much easier? Anything we don't know the answer to, or if we want to find something, you can "Google it" as my professor says. "Google it" has become a very common phrase nowadays. Likewise, hasn't Facebook done the same? It is very convenient to contact our friends through Facebook. It almost seems magical to find a friend you haven't seen for ages on the social network site. Facebook has digitalized our social life. "Facebook me" has hence become a part of everyday language. And lastly, how can I forget applications like Skype that connect people worldwide. One click and there you can chat with your friends and families overseas. Gone are the days when people would not see each other for a long time because there was no means of communication besides traditional mail. Today, no distance seems far away because of technology that makes you feel very close to the people you wanted to talk to. Once my friend told me that she had watched her brother get married over Skype. So, that's the wonder of one click, and the world is at your fingertips. Who would have thought that we could "sync" everything like this and the world would become such a small place. Technology has advanced a lot and it has definitely affected how we connect with our world today. It's not a good or a bad thing but we surely rely much more on gadgets today. I wonder what the future holds for us. Shristy is exploring her life right now and aims to make something good out of it. She enjoys what she is doing so far in her life and wants to learn as much as she can from everyday situations. She likes to write about anything that comes from her heart and anything that she believes in. She does spend a lot of time on facebook, just because she likes "socializing." http://www.parakhi.com/blogs/2...

WOW! I am enlightened

What is better quality versus quantity? Thesedays it seems like parakhi.com is focussing more on quantity of writers than quality. This read seems fit for a 6 grade student, no offence to Shristy. Perhaps it's going to be an eyeopener for readers in Nepal, but for readers in the US who have been doing online shopping and paying their bills online for past 6 or so years it just comes as what snurp expressed.
