US Visa for Student with I-20

I am planning to go to Nepal for couple of months. I have I-20 valid for couple of years but my US visa is runing out withing a few months... Is there a requirement to have a valid US visa for certain period (eg. 6 months?) when I return to the US? Please help me... Thank you all...
