How is the job market with CFA designation? I heard its for the people who are already in the field, is it true?

@anon, while anyone can take the test, CFA designation requires one to pass all three levels and have four years of relevant work experience. So, true. Job market is very competitive in ER(equity research) and asset managements for which CFA is geared towards. But I've met many folks interested in careers in private equity, IB and trading taking the CFA, but the word on the street is that CFA doesn't have much value added in these fields. :o)
