LuckyGal07's query is very valid and it points out the blatant intolerance that used to exist before Sajha was reclaimed back last week. Since last week, there has been a huge decline in anti-virtual behavior which was rampant as LuckyGal has pointed out. The main goal of sajha is to provide a virtual place where someone can easily ask a question or share something without having to fear someone attacking them, where both male and females need to feel comfortable to interact without the apprehension of some anonymous group of users ganging upon them for their own entertainment. I realize that I should have done this long time back but I suppose it took me a while to realize that in a virtual world, "a self correcting system" is not feasible. Different people have different definition of fun, and as long as few people believe that their personal entertainment at the expense of others' is more important for them than the greater good, "a self correcting system" would never work because these people will spoil a 'respectful' and 'tolerant' system to suit their needs. With that in mind, sajha will cease to serve a handful of people whose main reason of being in sajha is for their personal entertainment at the expense of others who are here to get some help or to share info with other Nepalis.Use of foul language, inciting hatred, belittling of other users, and practice of other behavior that promote negativity are not acceptable in sajha. It may take a few weeks, but sajha is already becoming a place that LuckyGal is looking for, Except for the tihar ma balne jhyap jhyaap batti jasto ads. Tihar is just around the corner so lets light it up. For many new users a short one paragraph history of sajha: Sajha started in 2001 with the goal of bringing Nepali people together to share info, discussion and questions. I work as a web application developer and it was a fun hobby to do on the side for Nepalis living in the US. After many - many years, few businesses started advertising in sajha because it was a win win situation for all, they continue to promote their businesses via sajha. As you can imagine the cost of hosting the site has increased a lot and the 'tihar battis' help out. The goal is to make every day feel like dashain and tihaar in sajha for Nepalis from all over the world.
