Before India claims over Rohit and issues him a citizenship...

Stiffler · Jul 20, 2011 1:50 PM

Even Anil Gurung tried once in the junior level league of EPL side (Probably Chelsea, I forgot) but could not succeed and Sushil Chettri (Indian national of Nepali origin) tried at Kansas City last season but returned ithout any impact. Hopefully Rohit can be a example.  And this can be another reason for us to watch Premier League. And in a different note, it is nice to hear that NFL will be back.

First of all great news!! Good luck to Rohit Chand wish he makes it, :since Nepal is not in the top 70 in the FIFA ranking and the British government only permits non-EU players if the player is playing for the country and the country is ranked below 70 in FIFA ranking that could be a barrier Its not Sushil Chhetri Sunil chhetri, heard he  signed a contract with portuguese club Benifica as of 12 th june 2012, he was signed by QPR previously .he had a similar problem with visa since India is out of that top 70 FIFA ranking as well.he is a decent player. Its sad that he is representing India even though his mom represented Nepal as a women footballer.

First of all this is a rumor. If you look at the website which has posted this news, it has posted this news under "transfer rumors." It could be a true rumor though as Graham Robers has mentioned Rohit Chand in few of his interviews as one of the best player he is ever managed. The process is long as crazynep mentioned earlier. UK rule states that any non EU player who wants to play in EPL must have represented  their country in 80% of the national team matchesin a certain qualifying period (? 24 months). I am not sure if Rohit has done that. They also have strict criteria stating that the national side should be ranked inside top 80 (not 70 as crazynep mantioned). However, there was a case of the Chileian Player Mark Gonzalez, who Rafa Benetiz brought to Liverpool when the Chilein Team was outside top 80 (infact Chile was number 82 at that time). If he is liked by the Harry Redknapp or Arsene Wenger, they can get him there but it would be a lengthy battle. Best of Luck Rohit Chand, it is always good to see any nepali doing well. ------------- On the other note, Best of luck to nepalese football team against Jordan this saturday. Make them pay for their disrespect towards us.

Reading all your comments I am a little less optimistic. This combined with the fact that his position is defense and he is smaller physically for a regular defensive back.

Stiffler · Jul 22, 2011 8:40 AM

Although we dont know his statistics, looks good physically as well. If he goes under a good trainer, should be fine otherwise he can be another flop as other Nepali footballers who struggle mainly for income source and give it up.
