I am asking our sajha writers and political analysts to contribute to this thread and develove it into a fictional mini-series on the fall of Nepal. I know the idea of Indian occupation is repugnant but I am considering the worst case scenario. This series will have the following 6 phases. Current Crisis and political deadlock Indian Intervention Indian Invasion Indian Occupation Nepalese Resistance Climax (This I would leave to the writers. Some suggestions - happy ending with Nepalese victory and regaining sovereignty/ nightmarish union with the Indian Union / or the most desirable - other secessionist Indian states cue up with Nepalese counterpart and break the whole Indian Union) We will spend about a week writing on each phase. By the end of the each week, the series should transist on to the next phase. Participating writers are urged to write two to three small paragraphs on each post to keep the readers engaged. Even though it's a fictional story we would want to keep it as real as possible by using the real political players of Nepal/India and other nations as characters in this story in addition to your own characters. You should write in sync to the post above you, keeping the theme intact and give continuation to your plot till the end. Any unrelated post will be politely deleted. So who will be the first one to jump start this series ?

[Love the idea Nas. Very creative. I knew there was more potential than you than I generally see on sajha (kidding :-), kind of ). Anyway, I am impressed with your idea and I hope to see more of it in the future. We need more visionary ideas like this. Just to show my appreciation, I'm going to have a stab at it. ] Sumesh bit into the momo in his right hand, licking the tomato sauce off of his thumb. He picked up the glass of beer in his left hand and 'toasted' it up to the TV. "This is to Nepal's constitution that we will never see," he said. Krishna and Tony showed their tomoto stained teeth as they grinned at the sarcasm. Tony yelled to the restuarant owner, "Hey didi, I have told you that whenever we come to your momo shop to enjoy ourselves, to not put it on any Nepal channel that shows our politicians. Haven't we? It completely spoils the mood." "No, no," Sumesh said. "Our politicians are our national treasures. In Nepal, our national treasures is the pollution, mud and our politicians: starting from best to worst." "Oh Sumesh, you are too negative man," Ratna spoke up. "You need to lighten up yaar. Be positive. In this day and age of media and television and all that, everybody has an opinion. You are looking at constitutions like developed nations like the United States of America and European countries. But you have to remember that countries like that made their constitution when there was no media. A few founding fathers hammered out a constitution when no one else was looking. Do you think that if European nations or the United States would make a constitution right now...with so many people having so many opinions...that even the U.S would be able to create a constitution without starting a civil war?" "Damn, som," said Sumesh, his eyebrows perked up as he blinked. His eyes opened with the glaze of the bottle of Tuborg beer that he had downed before this one. "You are getting way too serious for a conversation over momo's and beer, yaar. Relax." "It is serious, yaar," Ratna said. "If guys like us don't take Nepal's future seriously, who will?"

None of the political systems will be working in Nepal unless and until we have these problems a) enough resources b) schooling of hard working, c) greed for generations d) fight for power e) disease of corruption f) schooling for believing each other g poison of hate of each other h) division of people in politics i) Always divide and rule by parties j)Intervention of international poltics (especially India) because of the King before and politician now k)educational enlightment throughout the country and at least oppertunity to every Nepali besides their caste, relegion, place of birth, place of education, where he live. We were poor a century ago and we are poor now. Our bureaucracy, system, politics were corrupted a generation ago and now too. A single person can’t fight for all the above mentioned problems. We are greedy and we need money for generations. Our parents were corrupted, so most of people who were able to get higher study in USA or western world belong either from rich or at least middle class family. After democracy, even some of the lower class families are also able to go outside for education, rest still are struggling in India and Gulf. So, it is not fall just republic. Monarchy was outdated before, people had hope and tried alternatives but the above factors are so strong, none of the system will work unless and until we realize the above problems. If it is too late, we will be Afghanistan. An important question was " Are we independent ever? No, we think we were independent but because of these obove mentioned problems, we were dependent to India,King or poltician forever. In the time of Monarcy, we were dependent of King and now we are dependent of politician and India. We can't do anything without politics. Every people is divided in one politics or other. We are ready to fight and kill each other in the name of politics. We were protecting politicians or Monarcy. So, we were never independent. Even some of us are trying to protect Gyanendra and Paras, some of us Pracanda, some of us Khume, Gachhedar, some of us Gagane. So we are not independent, we are trying to protect politician. Also at the same time, we are incouraging our parents to earn more money for us from curruption, so I am not surprized that any system will fail we are dependent and greedy. We will be poor forever and there will not a system. Last edited: 05-Jan-11 05:02 PM

Nehru’s vision was to see India develop as the centre of economic and political activity in the Indian Ocean area. “The small national state is doomed. It may survive as a culturally autonomous area but not as an independent political unit”, the doctrine stated. With RAW, Nehru’s doctrine had already been realized in former independent states like Hydrabad, Kashmir, Goa, and Sikkim. Birendra’s secret scheme had already been compromised by the agents in the Royal palace. It unlocked Birendra’s desire to dissolve the parliament and call for a round table conference after reaching some sort of agreement with the Maoists and to form a National Unity Government with Maoists included. In order to establish link with the maoist, Birendra had separately deployed his brother Dhirendra and General Dilip Rayamajhi of the Royal Nepal Army. The Chinese had already supported Birendra’s plan and the UK and USA was also in the process of supporting him. Birendra wanted to corner India by exposing India’s tacit linkages with Maoist by seeking the support for his plan from the Indian establishment. This would have highly embarrassed the Indians. The Indians had to act quickly and act they did. On the fateful night of June 1, 2001, Birendra and his family were mysteriously massacred, thereby moving one step further to realize their “Nehru Doctrine”. [Sorry dekchidriver bro, I had to cut short of Birendra as I wanted to directly start the series on the present day context. ]

if you look at African nations, during 19th -20th century most of the counties were colonized by western counties mainly France, German, Spaniish and British. In last few decades, even though those African managed to drive foreign settlers from their countries thus gaining independence, reality is more than what you see from outside. if you look these African nations now, most of them are absolutely dependentant on western countries. they are absolutely hijacked by foreigners from inside financially and economically and the businesses are aboslutely monopolized by foreign countries and mega corporations. now if you look at India, it is rapdily moving toward 21st centuries. population of India is growing rapidly and of which lower class ciitzens are moving into middle class in more rapid pace. India is all about business and how grow the country economically and is now head to head with china which is also moving far ahead of India. Both mega nations are all about how to expand their economic imperalism just like what western counties are doing from centuries. there are more than few reasons why India wants to put their thumbs up on our Nepali's ass. let me break it down. 1. India is bascially in great fight with China on who is the daddy in Asia and Nepal's territory is a great vantage point and to push themselves even further toward tibet. They would love to see Tibet gain their independence so that they can move even deeper toward north. Once one Chinese Ambassador said that India never had to go to war to influence their culture in foreign land. this is true. Culture from India are good and has a huge influance on different culture. look how much Indian's cultures has expanded in Nepal from food to clothes to movies. to be contined....gotta go home now alright, i am back at my office. now let's move on to point 2 2. India is moving forward economically in a rapid pace and majority of lower income class are moving into middle income. they are consumig more energy and other luxurious products than ever before and as result, there is a huge surge in demand of energy and raw materials. Now you might think why there is huge surge in price of house and land in all over asia including in Nepal. it's because India and china are voraciously consuming every raw materials they can get to build infractures raising the price of the materials. now it cost more money to build a house in Nepal than ever before. now if you look at india, even though they are moving forward, they are having huge problems with energy and clean drinking water. just like in Nepal, there is a loadshedding in india too in so many places . more and more peple are using electronic products like refrigerator, AC, TVs, etc etc and energy demands have gone astronomical. so what are the options thaat india has to meet the energy demand. one i can think is untapped hydopower in Nepal. nulcear energy (which they are really trying to make it work) energy from coal (they don't have huge coal mines in India) to be contined..time to work.
