you mean थर् र जात?

I meant the words, not the social context of the words. We know there is no more classification like this.

In my opinion, 'thar' is familyname or lastname and 'jaat' means class or cast (a kind of hierarchy).

TAR means wire. Jhat means pubic hair or quick...I think.

We do not know in what contest he is asking these word. तर  ( if he means it ) = but ,  तार  = wire झट, झटट  ( if he means this ) = immediately. झाट = pubic hair   Last edited: 17-Sep-10 11:27 AM

Bill, Jaat means caste.  Thar means sub-caste.   There are many Jaats in Nepal.  Each of those Jaats has many Thars.  People use either Jaat or Thar as their last names. Jaat does NOT mean class as someone above mentioned. Hope this helps.
