This is BIG but in a place like nepal where there is no copyright laws enforced, this means nothing. They will continue to make money by selling pirated videos.

Neerman, I have nothing personal against Kasaju brothers. They seem like nice guys. But your #2 drew my attention. Notice that you can never get away by saying "I am not the only one doing this" when you get caught. So, Police officer Kharel, who everyone thinks is the most honest police officer in the force, is doing the right thing.  No police force can ever catch all criminals. The police catches whoever it can catch; it prioritizes its resources. It is often hard to catch someone doing it secretly; police needs more resources to go after copyright cheaters operating from a corner of Nawalparasi (just for example), but to catch a cheat opearting from New Road is easy but the cheats in New Road can't say,in their defense, " What about those operating from Nawalparasi?"

For a street hawker who is uneducated, poor it can be unstood for such actions but one of the leading entertainment portal onwers involved in PETTY movie selling piracy like those street hawkers is too much. At least  those street stall onwers have buy blanck DVD, Burn it, add poster, warp in plastic but this MUJHI KASAJU is simply copying from LAPTOP to PENDRIVE and charging Rs.100 ! WTH !... when you can get  movie DVD for Rs. 25, he is charging Rs. 100 ! & he has membership plans re... Saala ko Bau Information and Communication Ministry ma Senior officer cha bhanera Je pani garne... YESTA LAI TA laaat ka laat hannu parne...

babuyadav · Sep 16, 2010 5:33 AM

UPDATE: KASAJU brothers will be JAILED for 10 days at least, acc. to appeal submitted by Metro Police to the District Court for further INVESTIGATION. Man, these guys seems to be involved in many more thhings than regular MOVIE PIRACY. Maybe ADULT movies ? Or HIGH CLASS BROTHELS using cybersansar.... as two of the models who appeared in cybersansar were arrested for WOMEN TRAFFICKING in Singapore.

babuyadav · Sep 16, 2010 5:41 AM

new update: Court ordered JAIL term in Metro Police Station for 5 days for further investigation. MORE CHARGES MIGHT SURFACE from 1300 HD movies !

babuyadav · Sep 16, 2010 10:31 AM

I feel bad for these guys. There are hundreds of thousand cases of copyright infringements in Nepal everyday at every nook and corner of Nepal but these are the ones who get caught. I don't support what they did either because I think they got too greedy for money. It is greed that finally got to them. To be honest I don't approve of the business model for cybersansar where they exploit scantily clad women and make money off them.

GRGDai · Sep 16, 2010 12:10 PM

I guess this should not be only reason why they were arrested...The way their webiste is putting models of C quality-they seems to have become more like a cyber-pimp..I won't  be surprised if tomorrow police take this leads to woman trafficking and prostitution. unlike many, I do not feel sad for these guys..jesi karni weisi bharni..

shantipriya · Sep 16, 2010 12:35 PM

Well, Shanti Priya... Police has already detected AWFUL LOT of PORN MOVIES from their Harddisk along with HD english, hindi movies. Police have not yet revealed whether the movies are ENGLISH porn or Nepali yet. Police is aware of kind of havoc that will be created after revelation of NAME OF GIRLS (models of cybersansar maybe) in such movies. If nepali porn is detected from the harddisk they have siezed then, KASAJU brothers will get very long term like the guy of NISHITA murder. It will be difficult for them to work anymore in Nepal - the PORN MOVIE MAKERS OF NEPAL - D KASAJU BROS !

babuyadav · Sep 17, 2010 1:35 AM

Kasaju are not good examples for Nepal for sure, they are not doing good for the societies. They may be involved in human trafficking, and if they are then they need to be punished to the fullest. But there are more important things to consider. Is it the first time folks in Nepal are involved in piracy? Is it only related to piracy or also related to sex scandal and human trafficking, too? If this is a case of sex exploitation and human trafficking, then the guys must not be let go after 10 days of jail terms. They need to be punished so they never return to this business. If it is only about piracy, the crime is just economical and financial; again I do not pardon them, but I sympathize with them. The whole world is full of these piracy actions. The case become one of who owns the "danda". This world is best described by the phrase "Jasko laathi usko bhainsi". Those who can enforce piracy acts are enforcing it in this world, at the same quietly copying others' work, patenting them, repatenting them and reinventing them mercilessly without being penalized. This world of piracy is very vast, obscure and vague at the best. Again, it does not mean brothels will stop in Nepal, cyber-sex will be banned for ever and gilrs will not be exported to Arabs, including Somalia and Sudan and Ethopia. If these cops have the gut, go after those traffickers first, those killers etc.
