I am ashamed of myself because my parents spent every single penny they had in providing me a good education in Nepal and then sending me to the US but now that my dad has retired and my parents are struggling financially I should be the one helping them but I can't. Even though I worked as hard as I could I was never able to save any money. By the time I graduated I had $10,000 in credit card debt. I couldn't find a job after graduation. I don't blame the economy for that. I blame myself. It was my lack of networking and my habit of always hanging around only Nepalese which contributed to me not having a job. Networking is the only way to find a job in today's market. internships are a must. I will somehow maintain my status, may be join community college or do masters but everything I will earn will go towards tution, interest and debt payment. I will never have enough money to support my family back home. I feel extremely guilty about that. Do any of you have similar feelings? How do you cope with that? Most people I have talked to say  you have to remember that things will improve. If one continues to keep the eye on the goal things will change in a few years time but I have a hard time consoling myself saying that. When I was in school I used to think things would change after I graduated but that didn't happen. I feel trapped. I can't go back to Nepal (and do what?). I don't see much of a future here. I don't know what to do or think. "tonight I wanna cry.........................." My parents, relatives, friends think I am living the dream life in the US. If only they knew.Every time I talk to them I feel like a hypocrite. I want to tell them but I don't want to make them sad... Last edited: 09-Aug-10 10:09 PM
