She decried government decision to cancel MRP contract to India and said that the government must apologise for it. Deputy Prime Minister and foreign minister Sujata Koirala has said, the cabinet should apologise to India by passing a regret motion on the Machine Readable Passport (MRP) printing case, Saturday morning. Talking to a group of reporters at her residence in Mandikhatar, Saturday morning, Koirala said, the government had made a mistake by revoking the contract, particularly, when the case was sub-judice. Saying the MRP debacle had dampened Nepal’s relation with India, DPM Koirala said, Nepal should apologise to India for revoking the contract for printing the MRPs. ‘It doesn’t happen anywhere in the world,’ she said. 'It doesn’t look nice for the cabinet to take decision and backtrack'. We should have waited at least till the verdict of the Supreme Court, Koirala further added. The MRP printing contract was given to India at Koirala’s pressure and she has been vocally criticising the cabinet’s decision to revoke it. nepalnews.com
