You need birth certificate. USCIS accepts anything from your VDC or Municipality as a birth certificates that mentions - 1. your Full name (that is in your passport) 2. Your parents (both father & mother's name) 3. Your date of birth 4. Your place of birth. The letter might contain one sentence like "It is certified that "Mr. ABC", son of "Mr. Your father" and "Mrs. your mother" was born in XYZ VDC- 2, Kaski Nepal on 22/2/2022 AD."  The letter should bear the stamp of VDC (or Municipality), and signature of the secretary. If it is issued in Nepali language, it should be translated into english, - you can do that from kitabkhana.. but these days most of vdcs or municpality issue it in english. And you should submit the copy of nepali and english translation.  You can not use anything else (passport, any other certificates etc.) as your birth certificates..USCIS does not accpet any other documents as your birth certificates. I hope it helps. Best of luck.

I have not seen a single person here who applied for Asylum because they had to FLEE from Nepal and landed up in USA directly But, there are people who actually had to leave and most of them took shelter in INDIA instead of USA. Just prove me wrong and you got it.

dimag kharab · Sep 10, 2010 9:41 AM

no tourist , ok let me guess.. then you came in student visa, no prospect of h1b and green card from that route.. you decided to go to San francisco just like the herds of Nepalis and apply for asylum saying you were a member or Nepali congress/student league.

kalopani · Sep 10, 2010 9:49 AM

yes u r right there r some people who flee to india. but not only in india many people fled to many other  countries too. that was a dark time in nepal . so many people had to run away from there home and flew to many different countries wherever they got the chance.  when u r tortured from someone, when u see someone kidnapping and killing your own ones , when u cant stay in ur own home because some terrorist captured it. its difficult and painful. when u are tortured physically and mentally that is really painful. u might have just listen those things in news but some people had to go through these circumstances. i am one of those.so to know the pain and the treaten u have  to go through these situation by yourself or u really need the heart to understand these.  i am trying to live again .trying to forget everything i have gone through, trying to get some peace. so please dont ask me any more question. even to answer u i have to go to my painful memories, so please  dont ask me anything more

Watever it is, i wont argue now. But, here is the thing. Once you start lying about something, you do that once, twice and then it kind a continues from there. After lying for gazillion times, you start to realize that you have a mindset and establish a realism within those lies. And, then you kind a balance off from there and becomes a very convincing story to tell without stammering. Just a thought! And i am not really pointing at you either.

Village, how do you travel to Nepal as an asylee?

Bidroh · Sep 10, 2010 6:07 PM

i have a same question too because i dont think u can go to nepal as an asylee .

village · Sep 10, 2010 6:10 PM

Well I've heard that Nepalese go via India with a visa but I don't think Indians issue any visas to Nepalese....

Bidroh · Sep 10, 2010 6:17 PM

And fyi, since I live in California, I've come across thousands of Asylees and Bhutani refugees who can't "call" Nepal their home yet. I'm remotely curious. That's all.
