By the year 2011, all states will check status and only issue such genuine DL to citizens and permanent residents. All other get one stamped TEMPORARY VISITOR valid for less than a year. Currently, I am sure there are a few, but not sure. You might check LA, AL, GA, CA

Sometimes it depends on their mood. My friend from RI got 5 years license. I am not sure but I think MA gives 5 years of license.

If you want to renew it go to arizona they will give u it till the age of 65 years. Only 3 or 4 states are in pre condition tat you have to show status. Please check online of Arizona DMV.

first get the id card then think about the DL.

You have to prove the status in GA. After verification, you will get the DL for the validity of your status. It does not take more than 5 mins to check the status. Sometimes, it can take more than 3 days. no such luck of getting 5 years DL in GA.
