It all boils down to "Aham Brahmasmi" in Hinduism and "Śūnyatā" in Buddhism. A paradoxical reality.

Nas · Apr 6, 2010 6:12 PM

nas, i can't believe that you said that. i didn't expect that from you. but, you are right my friend, basic difference is hinduism is all about aatma or brahma-everything emerges from power of aatma-or-brahma but buddhism calls the same aatma as sunya-nothing-absolute void..

Tantric Kamdev bro, It sounds like I am boasting but at one time I was so much into spiritualism that I wanted to be a Sanyaasi. I was really deep into religious philosophies. Now I have come up with certain principles of my own and live by those principles.

do you guys deny the existence of god as said in buddhism?

shiva_linga · Apr 6, 2010 7:12 PM

Are we really that much intelligent to deny or accept the existence of god except for our personal opinion? to accept the existence of god we have no evidence and deny its existence we have no evidence either. Our personal opinion always changes with time, We can not cite any religion as a proof because they are prejudice either towards its existence or towards its non existence. Yeah, we can discuss anything as a time pass.

Before you talk about so called  'God 'you need to define what is God? God of Christianity? God of Islam? God of Hinduism? Is God a personal God or just the God of gaps i.e, easy answer to whatever is unknown. When you make yourself clear in those things we can make progress on the business of proving or disapproving the Gods you believe in. For me Amongst these religions Buddhism is sounds better as it is much more closer to Atheism in its philosophy when it says that It does not matter whether there is God or not, it is you who have to work for your own salvation through your deeds or Karma.

hmm, really nas? thats interesting.. btw, what is the connection between trying to lead a monastic life and posting nude pics in sajha? is that some kind of jorba the buddha kind of thing like osho said?

tantric kamdev · Apr 6, 2010 9:21 PM

I think Buddhism is refined Hinduism, i.e. Hinduism without caste system which disapproves animal sacrifice and seeks enlightenment through meditation without help of personified god.

hari_bahadur · Apr 6, 2010 11:34 PM

Hinduism - blind faith. Buddhism - you have to experiment yourself and judge yourself about "TRUTH". That's why after 45 years of teaching, justbefore dying, Buddha asked (urged) his disciples to forget about all he had taught them. Nullify all those. You should not believe because something was told by your teacher, parents, or written in the book, sutra... you have to analyze yourself, and accept it only if it reasons to your thinking.

My personal opinion: Buddha was a rebel who challenged the brahman and vedic supremacy .and his discourse to his disciples became what is known to us as buddhism. he had no intention of having followers or starting a cult but it was just like all other yogis/tapaswais of his time-sharing personal experience and discoveries. he challenged the concept of saguna(with form/character) god but still believed on gods nirguna aspect. To attain nirvana and to get mokshya by uniting with the parabrahma is the same.Have ur say.

There is no God. If there was he would not let people murder each other in his expense. Hinduism Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Christianity they are no different.  Why do people goto pray to god ? It is always either somethng they want or to get forgiveness for something they did.  Now how selfish is that ?  We as humans created god for our own convenience.  Granted there is something out there but I would not define it as God As We Know Today. If you did nothing wrong and are satisfied with your life ... there is no need for you to goto a temple, church, or a mosque.

"btw, what is the connection between trying to lead a monastic life and posting nude pics in sajha? is that some kind of jorba the buddha kind of thing like osho said" tantric kamdev bro, During my school years, I was so much into reading Osho that I totally got drunk into his philosophies. I guess I was too naive in my thoughts to pursue a monastic life back then. I really liked his idea of a new dynamic man, Zorba the Buddha. As for the posting of sensual  pictures in Sajha, I am just pushing the envelopes of  Sajha community as a whole. Many Sajhaites find it so offensive and improper and I just could not figure out why they loathe the images of some beautiful and sensual scantly clad women when our own tradition has glorified the inherent sexual nature of human beings in Kamasutra and Tranticism. Even in the divine shrine of God and Goddess, the temples are full of beautiful statues of gods and goddess making divine love. The worst part is these Sajhaites can't even use proper discretion while opening my threads. If they don't like my threads, they should just ignore it and never open it. I think Sajha as being a microcosm of our overall Nepali society and many Sajhaites complaining about me are the kind who should be really looking into their own souls. Over all my whole intention in Sajha is to make one and only statement: "Please mind your own business". Osho says that more than political & economic revolutions, the world needs a Sexual Revolution. "I have spoken on sex because it plays so much significant role in all the religions of the world. They are all against sex. They are all repressive. They teach people to be against sex, against life, to renounce life, to renounce the pleasures of life. Because of them I had to speak that it is all nonsense and it is against nature. Their whole teaching makes people perverted. A repressed sexually person is a perverted person and ninety percent of psychological insanity is created by sexual perversions. And they have made the whole humanity perverted. Sex is no more just a biological thing for reproducing children. It is simply a beautiful, loving game. If you don't like it, don't play it, but don't try to teach people that it is something unspiritual. It is neither spiritual nor unspiritual. It is just like any other game -- football or volley ball, or playing cards. It is just like that, nothing of any importance. So in my philosophy of life I do not give any importance to such things."

God created by human kind or creator of human kind?

If you haven't already then Watch the movie "The Invention of Lying"  Starring Ricky Gervais and Jennifer Garner and the movie "Creation" Starring Paul Bettany, Jennifer Connelly, and Toby Jones.
