@Napa- Few hours ago, you've posted a thread saying you need a help on college graduation, in addition to that you also said your PARENTS are on the way, and  you're FAILING in one class etc.  BUT shouldn't you be concentrating for that class? You still have GREAT CHANCE and graduation is not until May.  After all those great responses from the viewers, you're here doing research on STOCKS.

I don't think F-1 students can invest in stock market. In fact, F-1 students are not allowed to do anything except paying their college and living a harsh life. If you still want to trade stock, just go for it. Beside, stock itself is a risky business and taking one more risk by breaking a rule won't be a big deal. In terms of day trading, it requires at least 25,000 to start day trading. The requirement is set by SEC and is high because day trading is not suitable for all investors. Day trading involves high risk and should only be considered if you have over $25000 that you can risk to lose.

F-1 are consider as non-residents and they need to have an extra document to fill up with brokerage account application , which is IRS form W-8BEN.  Its easy, just the personal info, extra paper work. And you're good to go.  Last edited: 30-Mar-10 11:12 PM
