Hello everyone, I am a nursing student doing BSN. I am planning to take internship this summer from my college. But, the problem came when there are only 6 paid internship and rest are unpaid (about 10). It happned beacuse of economic crisis that hospital didnt put their budjet to students internship. So, my question is can international student apply internship outside of college (from nursing major)? I went to my international student advisor and she said we can't do that it will be illegeal. I am so confused what should i do beacuse i dont have any hope from my college side to get paid internship out of 120 nursing student. I would be glad if someone would suggest me. Thanks

I am not a nursing student and don't know anything about nursing but I do know this. For bachelors students, if you have been enrolled full-time in your university for at least two semesters (eight months) and you find an internship that is related to your field of studies, you qualify for CPT (Curricular Practical Training). Irrespective of whether the internship is paid or unpaid, legally you will be allowed to do the internship. The university will require you to sign-up for an internship class and will issue you a new I-20 (the last page of the I-20 will say that your CPT has been approved). Having said that, I don't know anything about BSN. Why did your adviser say you can't do an internship outside the university? Did she/he give you any reason? May be nursing majors can provide you with a better answer.

Hello Everyone Currently i am working using my SSN#. I used My SSN# in last summer and this summer as well. But before that i worked becz i was on OPT only. I am graduating next spring in BSN. If any agency would file for green card while i am working, will it be become problem for my process. I think it does but dont know in what way it does. Does any one is on similar situation before? Please give me some information or suggestion on this. thanks
