Hi Guys I worked through consultancy based in NJ, and my project was in OK. I tried to file my tax through HnR Block, but they said i don't need to file separate tax for that state, since it doesn't show. I've doubt. In my W-2 it shows NJ, and have paid taxes, but my address is OK. Now I moved to TX, and filing from here. My question is some of my friends working in different state like MD/PA do file for both NJ and Working states. Do i need to file separately like others or there is some exemption in some states, or i am not understanding? Thanks a lot in Advance for your input.

Your primary residence was NJ during the tax year 2009 and your stationed at OK as part of your work. The company never treated you as a residence of OK and it withheld NJ state tax in tax year  2009 even you were in OK. You got the professional advise as it should be and nothing to be worry about it. If you are asked to file OK tax later ( but it is not going to happen), you will be awarded by H&R Block not filing as requirements. Happy now?????
