filing asylum

one of my friend lives here in houston.....he is a F1 status student and has entered U.S 1.5 years ago...he is thinking to file Asylum from Houston...will that be a good idea.....what will happen if his asylum is rejected will he get deported or will be back to F1.....expert suggestion required..... how much time ,money will it take for filing asylum( hiring lawyer)...... thanks....

he needs to file with in a year of entry. and  if he is in legal status he wont be deported after the rejection as well.

 what happens if he is in america more than a year 1.5 years...his probality will be less or what....case chalchha bhanni sundai thiye ni ta maile if he gets rejected....
