I know this may sound absurdly insane for some while others may encourage me to go ahead and atleast try. Whatever opinion you may have I it will make a huge difference in what I have initiated and would really appreciate any help or knowledge you have on the matter. First things first, I go to a liberal arts school here in the Midwest and like every year our school in collaboration with an organization organizes an event where one is given an opportunity to initiate a project which one thinks can be turned into a reality. If one believes he or she can do what he believes to and assures the committee then a sum of 10,000 dollar is given to turn ones project into a reality. There are many projects that are initiated every year with the help of this organization. The projects range from enslaving the child labors of Asia to Africa, from improving irrigation in Africa to helping the victims of Tsunami in Indonesia. Me being from Nepal thought of doing something in my own country and have developed a project inorder to help the battered and bruised women of our country. May it be because of dowry or second marriage or being accused of being witches or because we live in a patriarchal society where a son is far more valued than a daughter, women suffer and all these sufferings go unnoticed. The complex organization of the society further stops them from coming from their nutshell and fighting for the justice they deserve. I know there have been many efforts in the past and there still are many ongoing projects going on to help improve this situation and I very well know that a mere sum of 10,000 dollars may be small amount of money to dream to help these women and girls but I have vowed to work on this project as I believe one life saved would be worth a life saved.  I by no means mean that the money should not be used to help the children of Africa or Asia or the victims of Tsunami or any other disaster anywhere else in the world but having got this opportunity and the need in our own backyard I feel we could seriously use this money to help someone in need in my own country. What I have thought of was to rehabilate these women who were a subject to domestic violence with some amount of the money – use the other part to develop some skills within themselves (say – weaving baskets or pottery or anything that would generate income so that this money that was generated could be used to make themselves self sustaining as well as keep the project self sustained so that may be a new life could be helped ) but the main problem is that I would not be back home to initiate the project to its entirety and therefore would think it would be best to collaborate with some agencies working back home to initiate this project. But again, this has been my  long lived dream, I don’t want some scoundrels to screw up everything and misuse the money and the opportunity. Therefore I am sincerely asking for any suggestion you may have. I know like I said may sound absurdly insane, but I believe it can be done. We were fortunate enough to be here, I believe it is our duty to atleast TRY to do something for our country. Thanks a lot,
