That is rock salt, (black - "birenoon" and white -"sirenoon"). Rocks of salts are collected in the mountains (not produced on sea) and broken into smaller pieces before they reach to market, as you can see in the movie Caravan, The Himalaya which is based on the story of trading rock salt for food.

whey is mahi which is called butter milk in usa. any grocery store carries butter milk. in nepal we used to call ladies finger for Eggplant                                     green corriander for Cillantro                                     capsicum for green bell pepper                                     green onion for Scallion and more n more

 Mahi = Butermilk available at walmart locations. lot of words we know doesn't exactly represent what we think. Can you guys tell me what Mustard =  Rayo or Tori? Orange = Suntala or Mausam? You will be amazed by what you will find :)
