I just read an article on CNN.com about a Gang rape that occurred in Richmond, California. This article points out a few reasons why the situation is so messed up. I think the most disturbing thing about this article has to be the fact that the assault went on for more than two and a half hours. Another disturbing line was the following "As people announced over time that this was going on, more people came to see, and some actually participated," Gagan said. There were around 15 males around the scene, but none of them raised a finger to stop the incident. This just shows how pathetic some facets of this society are. You would think that with so much education, and awareness, folks would be more compelled to do things about removing bad things from happening. Were these people just scared to do something? I'm sure the girl was in pain--was her pain, and were her cries not enough for these people to compel these people to help her? This article just shows that our civilization has a long way to go. Humanity still has a lot of messed up parts, and this is just one of them.
