I got an offer for Postdoc position from one of the US University. To take this position, I need to apply for J1-visa. I wonder whether any of the Sajha user have ever applied for J1-Visa at any of the US Consulates in Canada. I would appreciate if someone can share his/her experience on the matter, especially about processing time and required documents.

तपाईंले पाउनुभएको अफर को इज्जत राख्नलाईनै भए पनि यो प्रश्न यहाँ नसोधी उत्तर आफै पत्ता लगाउदा ठीक हुन्थियो कि?  Or you are just trying to let people know that you got such an offer!!!!!  Last edited: 24-Sep-09 01:27 PM Last edited: 24-Sep-09 01:55 PM

the process is very simple just like F-1; check http://travel.state.gov/visa/t... I applied from Nepal.

You may have to apply from the country of your origin. I am not sure about your status in Canada, if you are a Canadian permanent resident, the provisions might be different. It's not like stamping H4 at US consulate in Canada. All the best

About three years ago, I had applied (as a PR of Canada) for a J1 for postdoc position in US. The consulate was in Ontario and the process went smoothly. If I remember it correctly, I collected my visa within two days. All the best.
