Hi, Just wanted to know if anyone has travelled back from Nepal on Advanced Parole. Were there any problems in the Nepal airport or at any transfer points? I heard there is a separate interview for advanced parole at the port of entry in US? Is that true and are there any hassles? Lastly, there have been some rumors about having to get Nepal Gov labor "permit" stamped on the passport for anyone working in foreign countries. So far, I have heard it is for H1 holders. Well, I am on H1 now but I plan to come back using my advanced parole without getting the H1 stamped on my passport. But I still have the old expired H1 visa on my passport. Could they still ask for the labor stamp? I would greatly appreciate anyone sharing the travel experience while coming back on Advanced Parole. Thank you very much.

There should not be any problem whatsoever. When we travelled, good folks at Kathmandu Airport Immigration did not know what the Advanced Parole document is. So, we were held back for some 15 minutes until the senior haakim gave a go ahead. Actually the senior haakim did not know what the Advance Parole document is either. We were getting tired explaining to everybody who came to us scratching his head, "khoi yo kaagaz ta ke ho ke ho? tapai-ko visa chai khoi ni" "Yo chaahi Amrika ko Green Card paunu aghi diney Travel Permit ho hajur. Yehi nai hamro Amrikan visa ho" "Khoi, haamley ta yesto kaagaz kahiley dekhya chainau. Thulo haakim ko hukkum chaahincha." So, finally thulo haakim said, "Homeland Security ko chinha cha. Thik cha hola. Janu deu." We were not asked about H1 work permit. Over at JFK airport, we were in the same line as all foreigners. There was no separate line for AP holders. When we got to the immigration officer, he took all the documents and asked us to take a seat at the waiting area. After about an hour or so, we were given our stamped documents, no questions. Singapore Airlines personnel brought our baggage to us while we were waiting (very nice of them). No problem. But then, I am not the famous Indian actor to raise a big fuss for being asked to wait an hour.

Thank you very much for the detailed explaination. I hope some Hakim at the airport would let me go too! By the way, How along ago was that travel? Just wondering if things might have changed. Again, thanks a lot for the response.

This was back in February 2009.

As Sgy said, I had the same problem in Nepal. But coming back was a painless process. Yes, they do send you to a different window but the process is seamless. For the first time in my travel history, I was greeted " welcome back home sir"

Hey Sgy Can you travel back to the states with parole stamped on your passport. I hope to hear from u soon bro.

Phateko kattu, Advanced Parole is not stamped on the passport but is a document. I would assume that this is valid for multiple entry. Does that answer your question?
