I heard that those tires were actually good but were shut down by India because Nepal was almost independent on tires. So few nepali politicians were paid durning Girija raj to shut down this industry. Baburam had plans to re open those national shut down companies like basnbari chala jutta, hetauda kapada, bhrikuti kagag,, birat nagar jute mills, and gorakh kali tires.....sort of socialism Obama is doing with GM and banks here : ) Sid

That is called Getting rich and Pocketism. When ever politicians see personal benefits, they do not hesitate to pawn the Nationality forget about economy. They sold Hetauda Kapada in nominal value and later the same industry was able to take loan 5/6  fold . Now figure out how much commission they made selling  them.
