Gachchhadar not to settle for anything less than DPM Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) parliamentary leader Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar has said he must get the post of deputy prime minister with home ministry in the UML-led new cabinet. Gachchhadar repeated his claim over the senior cabinet post during a meeting with Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala Thursday morning. Gachchhadar met Koirala amid reports that the NC president had advised Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal not to appoint anybody as DPM. Sources said the MJF leader threatened to withdraw support to the government he was not made DPM. Gachchhadar has been at loggerheads with the party establishment after insisting that the MJF should join the government under his leadership. In a bid to avert a possible split, MJF central committee recently decided to send both Gachchhadar and party chairman Yadav to the government

MJF eyes plum portfolios The Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) has staked claim for high-profile portfolios like home and water resources along with physical planning, heath and education ministries. MJF parliamentary leader Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar met Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Wednesday to tell him that his party wanted these ministries --with four ministers of state. Gachchhadar said he asked the Prime Minister to expand the cabinet as soon as possible. Gachchhadar also said he would lead the MJF in the government. PM Nepal was expected to induct four new ministers in his three-member cabinet today, but could not do so due to internal dispute in the Nepali Congress over the NC president's proposal that Sujata Koirala lead the party in the government. At a meeting today some senior NC leaders including acting president Sushil Koirala are known to have raised serious objection to the party president's proposal. PM Nepal was likely to induct Sujata and Gachchhadar along with two new faces from his party CPN (UML). nepalnews.com June 03 09

if they get to be the ministers of water and other valuable resources, true nepalese should say goodbye to brag about Nepal being a natural rich country as they will sell everything to India.

It is New Delhi's order to Randi ko Choro Gachhadar to get the Ministry of Water Resources, so they can use it for their benefits. Our country is so rich in natural resources: from forest to water to herbs, these people will all sell it for their personal benefits.

MJF expels Gachchhadar, six other leaders; withdraws support to govt; split looms Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) is all set to split after the party establishment expelled seven senior leaders including its parliamentary party leader Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar from the party. In a press meet Friday, party Upendra Yadav announced that the central committee meeting of the party held this morning decided to terminate parliamentary party leader Gachchhadar, who was appointed as the deputy prime minister on Thursday, Sarad Singh Bhandari, party spokesperson Jitendra Dev, Rameshowr Raya and Upendra Jha, among others. Madhesi Janadhikar Forum chairman Upendra Yadav speaking at a press meetin... Yadav also announced withdrawal of support to the UML-led coalition government and one-day general strike in all Terai districts on Monday. He blamed Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala for plotting to divide the party. Gachchhadar was sworn in as DPM with physical planning portfolio, along with six ministers from the Nepali Congress and one from CPN (Marxist Leninist), even as MJF chief wrote a letter to the PM asking him not to induct Gachchhadar in the cabinet since the party had not officially named its leader in the government. Internal dispute in the MJF turned nasty today as supporters of party chairman Yadav and Gachchhadar clashed at the party central office. Tension began after Gachchhadar found the main door of the party office padlocked when he reached there to receive felicitations from his cadres. Gachchhadar ordered his cadres to break the door open, entered the party office and received felicitations. Cadres supporting Yadav waved black flag to Gachchhadar as he was being garlanded. Yadav supporters also pelted stones at Gachchhadar's car when he was returning. Police had resorted to baton-charging to take the situation under control. nepalnews.com June 05 09
