it's not dslr but try panasonic lumix fz-28..costs about 250. you'll be blown away, trust me.

Get Canon G9 or G10 if you want a point and shoot alternative of DSLR.... its great! If you wanna get a DSLR, get Canon Rebel Xsi/ 450D/ Kiss X2 with a 18-200 lens. Actually just buy a body and buy a Tamron 18-200 lens separately. Last edited: 12-Mar-09 11:19 PM

Nikon D90 You won't be disappointed. Also if you are looking for not DSLR but cameras that works as good as DSLR or more better than some DSLRs, go for Ricoh GRD II or Panasonic DMC-LX3K. I would suggest trying kit lens for a while and later go for different lens according to your choices. First see what you are interested into.
